Today me and a couple buddies went to the local junk yard, and I found an 83 civi blazer w/ 6.2 complete...and unharmed. I was curious to know if it's worth my time to go back and pull the injectors/IP/metal fuel lines/spin on fuel filter w/ base/glow plugs/and whatever else someone can think of...
so basically my question is: which leaf spring is bad, front or rear.....no springs are broken. Here are the measurements left front 35.5/right front 36.75/left rear 37.25/right rear 38.5. All measurements are from the ground to the top of fenderwell opening in the center.
Basically the drivers...
My 84 1008 doesn't have rain gutters above the doors like every other chevy truck of similiar year, what gives?

Les Schwab told me that 265/75/16 (32"tall) is stock tire size for the 80's 1 ton chevy's, but some of the vids on here of people's truck seem to show smaller tires(no I cant read the sidewall LOL), mine are...
I have a battery drain DOH! ....I think that the ignition is not killing power to something in the steering column, if I put on one of the blinkers I can hear it blink. No lights come on or anything when blinker is on (key off) and everything seems to work fine when ingnition is on...well, it's...
I was reading an article in diesel power magazine and it left me with a few questions? I did some searches and didn't really conclude much.
First off the article says not to use the "C" engine (pre-85)...instead use the "J" model which is what I have heard is in the military CUCV's.
Where...
On my 79 and 80 chevy trucks, if one doesn't work..the other doesn't either
On the 1008 the odometer works but not the speedo....and everything is mechanical....?
When I first hit the throttle there is a flat spot where nothing happens and then it goes fine....it's like the first 1/2 inch of pedal there's a BOG that is noticeable....what gives:?: Thanks everyone:!:
I've seen freeze plug heaters, oil dipstick heaters, fuel line heaters, even big magnetic heaters that stick to your oil pan underneath to warm the oil....any thoughts?

There was a post a while back I found yesterday about non isolated ground alts on the driver side. The thread indicated that a 74 cadillac alt was 78 amp and would work/fit into desired spot. Only half right. The cadillac...

I just bought this m1008:-), had alt issue from start. I paid a small fortune for alt, with isolated ground(drivers side)and still no charge, no gen 1 light or anything. Some info i printed out from other threads suggests that the pass side alt is the one with isolated ground......by the way...
does anyone know where to find a cheap altenator for an 84 1008,(drivers side)? Also, if I were to build a custom bracket to tow a fullsize chevy truck with the dual hookup on a 1008(not the pintle or receiver) would it last, what is the duty rating for the hook ups on the truck...
