Mine had a WTEC3 transmission installed in a WTEC2 truck, I will have to look in my notes to see what the code was.
Is yours an A0 or A1?
You might have Allison check the serial number to confirm you have a transmission that matches your control system.
I will look in my notes tonight. I had to...
You are way ahead of me, mine would not move at all. A WTEC3 transmission was installed in my WTEC2 truck.
Removing the transmission pan\valve body to install the correct harness was interesting.
If you look in the TM section, there is a calibration sequence for the Position sensor.

I think it is because all the stuff that was good for friction material but bad for people has been removed.
Just buy a new Freightliner truck and see how bad they squeak!
To upgrade to Kevlar, the entire transmission would have to be dismantled and reassembled. I am no Allison transmission expert, there is a possibility that there are also differences in the valve body.

Removing the bed would make no difference.
The computer will have to be reset to remove the learned transmission using Allison DOC to learn the new transmission shifting habits. Remember the WTEC2 has paper clutches and the WTEC3 uses Kevlar clutch material. It has completely different shift...

It is very heavy and has to be angled to drop it off. Once off the harness is easily replaced...
I know if the Army puts a WTEC3 transmission in your WTEC2 truck, you get to remove the valve body and replace the transmission harness.
Supposedly there was an inline harness adapter that came with the new transmissions, nobody could find one however.
It was not any fun!
A piece of copper tubing hammered flat works great. You can curve it to fit around the journal. leave some of the tubing round to use for a handle.
Old timer trick shown to me many years ago.
