New Owner of M37 New York

Increasing tire size gives less rotations per distance. So one turn of the axle shaft gets you farther down the road. Put another way, you go farther (faster speed) per a given engine rpm. Similar to putting taller gears in the rear end with stock tires.

2012 Redball Gilbert Show Dates & Info......

Years ago, restuarants had a blue plate special. Might be fun to arrange a "Red Plate Special" for the show. Asking for the red plate special would be the same as mentioning you were from the Redball show. Then again, might be too complicated for some to handle.....

    RI Quonset Point Show:

Yes, it is this weekend. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it this year, maybe next. It's at the air museum.

Yes, the TC is weak link, but an OD tranny isn't the answer. It will lower the engine rpms but won't change the rpms in the Tcase. Only changing the third member gears will do that. You'd need to swap those 5.83s for 4.96s. Put another way, with the stock system, 2500rpm in 4th (direct)...

Tires - best place to purchase

For the rim, I'd look at swap meets, etc. You could check with John at Midwest Military, he's in MI too. Vintage Powerwagons, Adirondack Dodge are others. Tires, I got mine from Wallace Wade (you could use Coker, Universal etc). 9x16 NDT's are only made by STA and Firestone. I got the STA's...

    Problem shooting on my m37

IIRC, the civie distributor doesn't have the correct end to run the oil pump. What seems to be more popular is converting the old point system to electronic.

    Aftermarket Carb Question

Yep, that's the oil bath air cleaner, you are all set. It's not recommended to run the fording kit if you don't need it. Too much restriction on intake and exhaust.

    Aftermarket Carb Question

Post a pic of what you have. Much easier to tell, picture worth a thousand words!

    Aftermarket Carb Question

I think a properly functioning stock carb is just fine. The biggest problem is the ethanol in the gas, it rots the rubber parts in no time. Modern rebuild kits, like the ones available from Then and Now Automotive have rubber parts that are more resistant to the ravages of ethanol. If you...

    MV Mounted Gun Laws

A lot of it boils down to the individual states. In CT, the law revolves more around intent. I have airsoft M60's on my M37. If I were to remove one, and point it at someone in a threatening manner, I could be in violation of the law. Since I started taking my guntruck to local shows earlier...

    Having trouble posting new thread

I was fine yesterday, but just tried a new thread in Conversations this morning and it dumped me three times in a row. I was trying to include a link to pics. I tried again without the link and the new thread posted. I went back and was able to add the link as an edit. Not sure what is...

    Vietnam Era Radio

    Thanks Mike. Looks like I'll go for a RT-524 in a MT-1029

    Vietnam Era Radio

I'm looking for the appropriate radio model for use in a Vietnam M37 guntruck. Time period would be summer of 69-71. Also, there was someone (in the DC area?) that had CD's of the AFRN Vietnam programs. I tried a search and couldn't locate, anyone have a link?

Looking for fuel pump rebuild kit M37

+1 for Then and Now. They have the kits and will do the work if you want. I sent them a pump I picked up and had it back in less than a week. Charles at M-Series said they currently have the best kits.

    Got my coveted M-37

    Looks good, congrats!

    I see stars

It depends on the year. The star pointing toward the windshield is the early one, leftover from WW2. The star pointing front is later, by Vietnam. I don't know offhand what the change year was, but I've seen it somewhere around here.

What Did These Split Rivits Hold?

Here in the Communist state of CT I paid $7 for my box. Should get the missing section installed soon while waiting for my pinion seal set to show up.

    M-37 Vin #'s

Did you look at the SNs over at g741.org in the registry? Lots to compare to. Looks like that is a valid SN but it's listed as a build date in March 1959 and it does show the dashes in the places you listed.

What Did These Split Rivits Hold?

I'll have to look into that, thanks!!!

    M37 "creating" legroom

The one in NE looks like a very good candidate. The multi-colored one, I'd pass. Lots of Bubba mods, tailgate is homemade, interior modded, engine has non-original parts, hard to tell what else is missing/wrong. Rot under the headlights, common but good fenders are getting harder to find...
