if you stay with the np208 there is no need to change drive shafts.
other than drilling a few holes in the fire wall and cutting a hole in the floor it should be a bolt in deal.
if you are looking to do the swap just to gain speed i would recommend changing gears instead.2cents likely...
is there a minimum lift height to convert to crossover? my truck spends far more time on road and towing than off and wheeling.
my spring bushings are needing replacing and i was contemplating a small lift and crossover steering at the same time to maximize drive-ability.

any indication of a often wet interior might indicate hidden corrosion in the wiring up under the dash. ie one of my coworkers used a pressure washer on the interior of one our trucks:cookoo:, it still runs...
if you dont mind rowing your own the nv4500 is great.
there is really fairly little cutting or drilling necessary.
the nv4500/np208 combo is within .250" of the length of the 400/np208 combo. no need for new drive shafts.
give it a fresh coat of 383 and keep a lookout for an nv4500 (early ones are cheaper) and drive it. :driver:

1400 b&w fits 73-87 chevys +gmc. unlike their other kits it requires drilling the frame.
