    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

I have heard that the serial # for the M151 is on the frame. I have done some looking, but can't find it. Is it visible? It looks like the AN/GRC 106 would be the easiest to install. I don't have a teletype. Would there be a dash plate making it a radio jeep with the 106 or 106a or could they...

    Engine swap??

Thanks from me also. Almost makes me want to take one out! That one fender bolt underneath typically gets rusted in badly. It has a captured nut that will break loose if forced. You don't want that, use plenty of penetrating oil.

    Engine swap??

I didn't consult a TM when I took off the front. It was quite awhile ago, and I don't remember alignment problems unless I was into fenders and doors. I just didn't have the means to lift anything very high. If you work on these trucks a lot you are going to have that ability, but if you are...

    M1028a3?

My truck is an a3. It did start out as a M1028. I'm the 1st civilian owner, but a University AG station had it after it's military service. They spent $zero on the truck so it is exactly like the AF left it. I'm reasonably sure it has the original marker lights on the fenders, but I was curious...

    Engine swap??

One thing I forgot to inquire about was how much you know about the history of your truck. Because while it's apart to that extent, it would be a good time to make sure the transmission doesn't need a rebuild, your radiator doesn't show any signs of a leak and the $900 engine is one you have...

    Engine swap??

You will need to remove the transmission 1st. It isn't that hard. Putting it back in is a pain sometimes. Take off the hood, unbolt the motor mounts. The hard part is lifting the motor, It is heavy and if you can't lift it over the radiator, There is quite a lot to remove to pull it out the...

    M1028a3?

I have always heard they were all conversions, but then ran across where a few 1986 made weren't conversions. It would be interesting to know when the conversions started. Like the date on that crate would be interesting. I'm interested to know when the decision was made that a dually was needed...

    M1028a3?

I have a M1028 dually but no data plate other than the original one. It was an Air Force truck, they must not have cared enough about the plate. I have seen pictures of many of these trucks and the rear fender reflectors and lights can look quite different. How how many years did they do these...

I have too Many CUCV's and Parts

I sold one last week for I think, 2 or 250, it was rust free CUCV with glass but broken crank and 1 small ding

    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

That page is what started all my questions. I found info that said Ford took over for Kaiser in 1965, then I found more info that Ford had a small contract in 1964 and at least some of the M151a1 had the 64Kxxx number as the frame number. I haven't found out yet where that number is on the...

1988 Air force deuce brake system rebuild

I'm in a holding pattern. Summit has the Dorman on back order. With a projected ship date of 8/26.

    Gun Ring M36 / M49

There was a cab stiffener kit for the M66 ring. I think I would want that on there, if I had any ring up there, but I don't know the weight difference.

    Windshield replacement problems

I took the old frame apart, but decided not to swap that to the new window. I didn't really figure out a great solution. What I did do was grind on the new window so the edge inside the hinge was not as sharp and the window then would close easily and not bind in the hinge. That raised it up a...

    Late Model USAF M35A2C Registry

I bought another AF deuce since I last posted. It came from a fire dept. There were no bed sides, it wasn't complete, but by the time I went to get it they found everything except the tail gate. It was advertised as an 82, but I knew enough about them to know what it was. It has bad brakes. I...

    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

I did find some info that Ford did have a contract for the M151a1 in 1964 and that they used the hood number as the serial number or visa-versa.

    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

I always thought someone made up the serial number on my jeep because it begins with 65K. Until I got these MRC95 parts home, I never heard of 65Kxxxx M151's and thought it was a random number. Where on the frame is the actual serial number stamped? I want to look for that. For some reason I...

    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

Appreciate the info. About 8 years ago a friend and I bought a bunch of military radio equipment from an estate. I didn't know what some of it was and that stuff got stored at my friends house. The radio equipment that I bought was what I thought was period correct for the Korean war or...

    M151a1 ROMAD's jeep

I know so little about this subject that even posting a title for this thread is uncertain. I know what ROMAD stands for, what I'd like to know, is more about is the radio equipment, and the M151a1 jeep that carried it. They were USAF jeeps that I think were designated 65Kxx with the x's being...

    Windshield replacement problems

I remember buying a new windshield years ago. I don't remember any fitment problems. I think the new windshield came with the hinge, everything was new. I was not expecting any problems this go around, which also leads me to believe, I had none before. I'm going to dismantle and re-use the top...

    Windshield replacement problems

That is why it is such a head scratcher. They are the same size. There is a different profile on the hinge piece that is on the windshield. I attached these 2 pictures of the hinge on the old and the new, but is hard to see the differences. I guess the next step is to remove the pieces off the...
