Boredom project, LB7 dirtymax turbo on a 6.2

Figured I'd post some main seal pics while I'm waiting for my doghouse aluminum to show up.it was an old rope seal, prob 1/3 was missing. It slid right out. Replaced with a modem felpro orange seal. Interesting note, the cylinders still have a crosshatch pattern from when the engine was built ...

Also i've been driving it all over town with no heat issue, wide open engine, haven't got burnt yet.

Yup, it'll be double wall insulation. Already have the EGT gauge, you can see it in post #38.

Started my doghouse today. Got the frame done and one top panel. Only had one sheet of aluminum so I need to get more.

Just your weekly update. I took some go-pro videos to try and see where my exhaust leak is coming from, 99% sure it's from the #8 cylinder manifold. I can see kinda see the smoke there, see a little spot and oil and it's the one missing the bolt, soooo, it's been there prob the whole time I've...

Makes complete sense. That 6.2 is redlined at 3k, I've only had it up to 2500 at 7psi, so at 3k I'd prob be pushing 10psi, just with a ton of lag. I'm gonna finish up my doghouse, then this winter prob convert it over to a HX35 sitting on a d-max T4 pedestal for better spooling.

Once I get the engine cover on, I'll g That'd be awesome, those LS engines hold up to boost well too

I would agree. I'm prob gonna leave this right now, at least till fall, I have the option of getting a pedestal that'll hook up to my up pipes that'll fit pretty much any turbo, specifically a HX off a Cummins.

Took off the up pipes today. Cut and re-welded them, that way all exhaust flanges fit perfectly bolted up. Still getting exhaust smoke in the cab through the doghouse opening. I'm wondering if the truck always smoked like that from the #8 cylinder. Got 7psi of boost, so with atmospheric pressure...

If you can get one of the gov planet 6.5 turbo crate engines, that'd be a good option. I'd like the 4bt hooked to a NV4500, would be legit.

Nice! Ya, if this motor quits on me I want to do something different, LS is pretty straight forward, ideal would be a Cummins.

Boredom project, LB7 dirtymax turbo on a 6.2

Well, out messing with the up-pipe this morning before work and noticed the #8 cylinder where the header bolts up is missing one bolt AND is leaking oil. I don't think oil should be leaking out a exhaust port, looks like it's been leaking a long time. Any ideas?

Boredom project, LB7 dirtymax turbo on a 6.2

So driving it around (the neighbors are hating me), when I floor it, I'm getting a ton of smoke coming into the cab (no doghouse yet). I took a go pro video and it looks like the collector didn't seal on the passenger side, buy I can't really tell. I'm gonna go to O'Reilly and get a set of...

Also forgot to show my CDR relocate. The OEM line is perfect if flipped 180*. There will eventually be a catch can under this, similar to a Dodge.

Haha, ya, my wife hates having all my buckets sitting in her parking spot on the driveway haha looking at getting a wrecked Charger next week, she knows about it but isn't too excited

Boredom project, LB7 dirtymax turbo on a 6.2

My wife says I need to finish this project since I started it, so here goes. Finished welding the new exhaust, 3" straight with a dynomax bullet resonator. Added in my boost and egt gauges, wired them up to a Pyle 12v step down. If anyone uses this step down down forget to add a switch, otherwise...

Ya, I'm thinking the turbo itself is just too big

Well, got the new CDR in, got it rerouted, oil leak fixed. Took it out, still not building boost, I can get like 4psi flooring it, super sluggish, not much faster than stock. I might chock this up to a failed experiment. I'll prob put it back to stock in the fall, triple digits are way too hot...
