I kept hitting the shaft with the sledge hammer and it finally broke loose. Once it was flush, I had to weld a long piece of rebar to it so I could keep pounding it through the mount. Finally got it out after hitting on it for about an hour. Surprised none of my neighbors didn't complain...
Thank you. I'll add fixing the brake stuff to the list. The list keeps growing.
Today I worked on the doors- mainly body filler in some minor dents, wire wheeled rusty spots, and primed them with rusty metal primer. I'll paint them green tomorrow.
I decided to get the pressure washer...
How do I determine which wheel the leaky diaphragm is at?
And it also leaks when I put pressure on the brake steadily. So I guess I'll be replacing at least one diaphragm(once I figure out which one it is) and the ABS valve.
What does the long spring do on the spare tire davit? I've looked at all the TM's and can't figure out what its for. The only one that even mentions it is the spare parts manual and it just says it's a spring.
HELP!!!!
Ok, finally got one of the keys out of the keyway- after I realized it wasn't just a straight key- it's one of the half moon shaped ones. So I used a punch to rock it back and forth to break it loose from the shaft(actually had to use the claw of a hammer to rip it out.
Now this...
The controls on my truck look exactly like that GK-1. I even pulled the one apart, but it didn't appear that anything was serviceable inside. After seeing their construction, I would rather use a different type of valve to control them(one that actually has seals in it).
Are the 1/4" ball...
This is exactly what I wanted to do, but finding ball valves small enough for the air lines will be a challenge. Likely will have to use a bigger valve with reducers in both ends.
Mine leak too. Looking for a solution other then replacing with the same type of valve. I will never again pull the instrument cluster out. A royal PITA.
Well, as far as the transfer case linkage goes...I have all of the links undone- they were all frozen up pretty good. The pivot point that is mounted near the very back of the cab is what is frozen up...BAD. I got both arms off of it, but the keys are frozen in the keyways of the shaft. Will...
I'm going to go out and do this today...as soon as the ground under the truck dries. I power washed the bed about an hour ago. Will post back if it works. I'm sure she'll be happy to get that front axle unlocked.
I already did that. I want to get rid of the switch entirely. Regardless of where the switch is(the roller part), air is still flowing to the front axle engagement cylinder on the back of the t-case. The switch moves freely by hand- and it does not return to the rearward position(high gear...
I confirmed today that the front axle is locked on my truck. The auto engage switch with the wheel that normally hits the washer has zero effect when I move it by hand.
Can I just connect the front axle engage air line from the cab switch direct to the front axle cylinder on the back of the...
Went underneath today to troubleshoot the frozen transfer case linkage. Removed the link between the arm coming off of the truck pivot point. Tried working the lever, it's still a 2 hand job pulling up very hard to even get it to move. I tried working it up and down a few times to maybe...
So that's why my NAPA wasn't having the sale on the filters. It was only for AITA participating dealers- the closest of which is about 86 miles from here. There aren't any AITA participating NAPA dealers in South Jersey.
Man, you're right. I just looked up the Napa store about 15 miles north of my local store, and their price is $104.95 for the trans pan filter! I'm not joking either.
Not to hijack the thread, but what did you use to plug off the hole in the hub after removing the CTIS valve? I've searched on here and there isn't a clear answer as to what size plug it is.
