Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and found the solution:
Sunday I took the 931 out to an event about 50 miles away. Everything through the day went fine until I got home and tried to shut the truck down. Click the lower switch off, and the engine keeps idling...
welcome from Christiansburg! Be sure to put your location (city & state) in your profile. Them's the :rules:
Treat it like you're driving a piece of large machinery and you'll be fine. Treat it like its a pickup truck, and you'll have problems.
I put Dex3/M in mine. The 654 is so old that its doubtful that full-synthetic will help it much over a good Dex3 fluid. Most any transmission fluid is better than the motor oil the military used...
my $.02
Huh? I've seen conflicting reports on what the MT654CR can handle, but the highest I've seen is 300HP/950ft.-lbs. posted here on SS. Do you happen to have a source for the 425hp number?
If I'm not mistaken, the 916 and 920 use fifth wheels with pins larger than 2". I'm not sure of the exact size. It sounds to me like a 916 with super singles and A/C would fit the bill.
This applies to any tanker truck unless it has a baffled tank. Anyway, It probably wouldn't hurt to have the water tank as far forward on the chassis as possible to distribute some of the load to the front axle. The biggest limiting factor I think you'll find is what the wheel (not the tire...
I use the override when toggling the parking brake a lot, such as when I'm pulling out trees. Keeps the spring brakes from dumping their air, decreasing load on the air system.
I respectfully submit that the M39, 809, and 939 are NOT the same trucks. They certainly have similarities and in some cases share parts, but not so much to warrant sharing the same forum. In my opinion that would be similar to saying that the 939s and the 915-920 should share a forum because...
I second splitting up the "5T and up" section. The M809s have their unique issues and parts, as do the 939s, 915 series, HEMTTs, etc. I wouldn't ask the staff to filter through the piles of old posts to sort them into their appropriate places, instead have a thread in each of the new forums...
Keep in mind that the rated max pressure for 5T combat wheels is 85psi. I'm sure there's safety factor baked into that number, but I wouldn't want to push it.
I switch to 24V Hella H4s. WAY better than the stock pieces, but also much more expensive. I highly recommend them if you use your truck a lot at night.
We are definitely talking about two different things. The idle-speed screw is not under the hex cap. It is just aft of where the throttle shaft enters the injection pump body, and is adjusted without removing any caps from the IP.
I'm curious why you would adjust the idle screw with the engine off? We may be talking about two different screws. The one I'm talking about limits how far back the throttle lever can travel through mechanical interference, and I see nor found any particular reason it can't be done with the...
