I am NOT an expert in OK DMV laws. That said, I recently purchased a M35A2C from a private OK seller. It had been converted at some past point into a dump bed, then apparently a hay truck. No paperwork existed. Seller said he purchased at local auction. Passenger windows has faded auction...
Push for passage as is rather then risk then it getting caught up in floor fights over turnpike safety. This group of legislators is having trouble getting a basic budget passed. Budget failed last year. Special session 1 did little. Special session 2 is now running concurrent with the...
Another thing to consider before trying to cut a corner to save money is tolerances. Motors, and other gizmos, have an acceptable voltage range in part to cover manufacturing variations. What ever the motor is spinning also has mfg variations. If both motor and load variations are such that...
Another valid use for a 400Hz unit would be as a backup for an off grid solar charged battery bank. The diodes in the primary AC->DC rectifier stage won't care and after that it is just DC.
OP -What were the conditions of the gift? If permitted, you might see if you could work a trade for a 120/240 15kw unit. Given the low hours on your current unit, might wind up with some left over cash to cover things like a mounting pad, wire and xfer switch.
Two downsides to the larger...
Here are some side marker lights on my M101A1. Installed on frame in case I wanted to use a bed-less chassis for some yet known use. Small 12v led lights. Bright for their size. IIRC, found at Autozone. IIRC the brackets are 1" angle iron. Only two chassis holes per light.
Before buying anything, price the materials for a pole barn type structure. By the time you buy tarps, plywood, pipe insulation, etc, the total might not be too far from the cost of a pole barn. You could just put a roof on it for now and add the walls later.
Just got back from the OKC USRO walk in store. Today is the final day of walk in operations. 50% off, so I picked up a few deals. Expect to see online sales to clear out their remaining retail stock but exact plans were still a work in progress.
They did say they will be doing loadouts for...
Here is what I did to mine while I had the bed off. The spare was tossed in the bed when it was sold as surplus. Think the guard unit took the opportunity to dispose of a used tire. IIRC, the spare tire is a 60's issue. The ones on the trailer were new with molding nibs still on the road...
If the trailer is going to be parked in the sun, the solar panels for maintaining charge should work. If mostly in the shade or inside, just get a battery minder and proper length extension cord. Depending on the amount of gear you plan on running from 12/24V while in the field, either solar...
2nd GreenMV's idea on including appropriate extension cords as the stores are likely empty by now if they are still standing. If you send them one that does 240V, send a long cord that uses the 240 outlet and breaks out both sides. And at least one fuel can if they don't have one. Those are...
Page F-25 of tm-9-2330-392-14p has a list of hub parts numbers. Found this site: http://www.truckpartstrading.nl/2011/webshop/en/132-m1101-?p=2 that shows bearings. One part number matches the TM the other doesn't. Looks to be a EU site but might give you some leads. When I was looking for...
In case you didn't know, much of the M1101/2 is Aluminum so any plans of welding fenders or other stuff to your trailer need to account for that. Also note that the brake system normally came with DOT 5 fluid which will not play well with the DOT 3 used in most civilian vehicles.
You can get modern tires for those rims. There are forum threads on the subject. Best to go to a truck stop as they have the proper tools and knowledge to deal with the rims. I got lucky on mine, the guard unit installed two brand new tires just before sending it to surplus. Still had the...
If DOT3 fluid got used to top it off, you will need to drain, flush and refill. These came with DOT5 fluid and the two don't mix.
Also, if yours is placarded as a M1102, that makes it a 4200 GVWR trailer and in many states, required to have some kind of trailer brakes. The M1101 is a 3400...
Try it the way it is. One problem with a riser is it gives the trailer tongue more leverage on the hitch. If it starts trying to wag the dog, the riser or hitch might fail. I think there are a few threads on this forum featuring bent risers. I find it hard to believe that the trailer won't...
Could be a local buyer that really wanted/needed that type trailer and didn't want to deal with long distance recovery. Or could be someone new to GP that botched the autobid process and is now pleading their case to be let out of the bid.
A couple years ago, I paid a bit over the going rate...
Check the tire pressure and pressure suggestion on your new tires. A lot of trailer rated tires want 50+ psi.
A lot of the fuel economy on newer vehicles is due to drag reduction. A M1101 pretty well defines not aerodynamic. That few inches extending to the sides could well be a foot or...
