Jon, do you still live in Hesperia or did you move North? I cut across Pearblossom Highway to the 14 down to Santa Clarita, it was a beautiful drive. Will,l I am long overdue for a desert trip. After 10 years I am finally going to have a dayshift schedule (8-4) with weekends and holidays off...
Picked up my duece today! Being that I did not inspect before the auction, (last minute decision to bid), I was a little nervous thinking I might have bought a 13,000LB lawn ornament. Much to my surprise the truck is in really good shape, no body damage anywhere, no rust, all complete and it...
I need to go but gotta work Saturday and am having my daughters birthday party Sunday at 2PM. Wife says I can't go. I need a whole front part of a hacked up duece frame specifically for the front leaves and all associated bracketry for a bob job on my duece. If that sounds like somethihng you...
The injectors are easy to take out, requires a 30 mm deep socket. You have to unbolt the injector line first then gently push it out of the way, try not to bend it too much or youll have trouble trying to bolt it back onto the injector.
I recently had 2 glow plugs break tips break off (about 3/4" long) inside the glow plug hole and there was no way of getting them out, so I thought. If the tip breaks off inside the pre chamber, remove the injector then stuff a paper towel or small rag inside the chamber to block off the hole...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 20+ Iraqi M35A3s
I will be heading there next Thursday the 24th for sure, couldnt get off work this week. I was there about 4 or 5 months back and there were 3 A3's painted with an arctic type camo, dont know if they are still there, never saw them on GL but they were in...
RE: Re: RE: 20+ Iraqi M35A3s
Hopefully I will be headed to Barstow On Thursday to pick up my new duece (paid in full invoice came in today). I will try and take a look at them if anyone is really serious about getting one, shoot me a PM. I have heard stories of the Head GL guy not letting...
There is member on this forum that lives in Germany and has it mounted directly to the cross member under the engine with the fairlead mounted in the bumper IIRC. Looked like a slick set up. I think pieces of angle iron were used as mounts, there were pics from a post about the subject a couple...
Is there a solenoid on the injector pump that might not be getting voltage to let the fuel flow through the pump head? Or maybe the shut off valve solenoid is stuck in the off position? I don't know anything about these, is the shut off vacuum operated like the old Mercedes diesel cars? Just...
Matt, If you could get some pics that would help. There is so much stuff there that is laying around without any organization, its just a matter of digging through it all. I saw several different pintle hoops that attach to the trailer tongue. Kyle I remember seeing a bunch of adjusting arms for...
Finally made it home. Preliminary results of my first long drive in the M1009 seem to yield good fuel economy. Drove almost 250 miles and still have over half a tank left. I got everything I wanted and at prices were too low to advertise  . It was great to meet a couple of new people and...
The only problem I had when putting mine on was the large rut I left in the front lawn from the wheel and dead grass from the oil that came out of the tank when I unscrewed the old valve. Other than that they are great!
I have seen claims on the internet of 35-40 mpg with a 4bt in a wrangler. If the price is right and a new engine is needed anyway, I would say its a worthwhile swap. I could only get 15 mpg with my 4.2.
I just installed a second set of universal trailer lights for $25. That way I can still keep it original lights for towing with a duece or use the 12v lights for a regular pickup.
I think that is the same motor used in the International Scout diesels from the 80's. There are probably Scout forums that will have alot of useful information. When I had my CJ-7 , I watched those tugs on GL hoping for a cheap one to be a donor on an engine transplant, but they always went for...
