    MEP-802A and MEP-803A fuel consumption

I agree and would like to add this (shamelessly borrowed from battlegradeelectric.com): Military generators are built to the highest military requirements. Unlike consumer products or even commercial products, military equipment is built to a specification, NOT a price point. They need to...

    MEP-802A and MEP-803A fuel consumption

My 802a averaged 5 gallons per day at about a 30% continuous load. I ran it for five straight days non-stop (without shutting it down) on 25 gallons.

Dang Tim, plenty of knowledge in your last post. I'll order Pri D from Amazon and retreat this summer. I have about 100 gallons on hand. 10 in the tank and 90 in the aux tank. I would like to find a high volume pump that I could use to polish my stored diesel with. Also, the coalescing filter is...

Tim, I couldn't find the Pri products in my neck of the woods but I was directed to use Power Service Clear Diesel. Have you heard of this: http://powerservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/PSP1-25054-CD-Tech-Builletin-Update-TB-9200_HR1.pdf I'd be interested in your thoughts...

    24v Battery chargers

and on the other end of the spectrum, the Pulse-Tech PRO-HD 12/24-Volt Pulse Charger 746X800 is the cream of the crop as far as chargers go... If you have the need for a **** good charger, you may find one of these at a better price than retail by going through GL or eBay...

Funny you mention that. We received an old Cat D8 that had about 100 gallons of 18-year old diesel in it. I removed about 50 gallons and noticed that the diesel was about the color of iced tea. I burned about 25 gallons of it in the 802a that I had during the ice storm and the generator didn't...

    24v Battery chargers

I installed one of the Pulsetech 24v solar chargers on my 803. So far, so good. The batteries have not died yet. Sometimes these are available cheap on ebay. I wouldn't pay alot for a used one...

Military unit designation code on equipment, how to read

It is definately NOT a Depart of Defense Agency Address Code (DoDAAC), the number was likely stenciled on the generator by the unit to mark it as theirs. Normally, bumper numbers, etc. are to be removed or painted over prior to turn-in but that is not always the case. It is unlikely that the...

    MEP-802A and MEP-803A fuel consumption

In my opinion, $4k is a bit rich for an 802. While they cost $12700 new folks are buying them from GL for less than $2k to $2500 in the same condition. Hold out for a deal is my advice.

Good point Tim. Maybe I'll pick me up a blue poly drum and fill it instead of fuel cans.

Prior to me going the MEP route, I always thought the supply of natural gas would never really be disrupted. You learn a lot here. I never considered compressors used to boost the NG supply to my home. Now it looks like diesel is the way to go for long term storage and efficiency and true...

    MEP-802A and MEP-803A fuel consumption

My 803 definately runs a little smoother than the 802 and after reading this, it makes perfect sense why that's so. After setting up my 803 and prepping for an outage, we have not lost power once this year. I'll provide info on consumption when I have a chance to use it. I am load banking a...

I think there is little noticeable difference in the noise between the 802 and 803. I ran an 802 for five straight days powering my house on just over 5 gallons a day. I dumped one fuel can per day in the 802 and never shut it down for a minute during our ice storm back in Feb of last year. I'm...

Are you connecting an MEP or a commercial genset to your house? If you are going to use an MEP, the connection should be made at the terminal lugs on the generator. You should leave your ground bonded to neutral via the copper bar while your MEP is "portable". You will notice that my bar has...
