It looks like 5 lug wheels, so this may be a 3/4-ton trailer that came before the Standardized WWII trailer with 6 lug wheels. Regarding the tongue stamping, in Missouri if you titled this as homemade, the State would issue a number starting with DR. DR = Department of Revenue.

From what little I know about them, The motor could be original(there appears to still be a governor under the carb). The entire truck looks fairly unmolested. If the winch is original, they used to be sought after, not sure of current demand. Good rear fenders are always in demand for these...

Too late to help rumplecat, but I had an M715 fender sent via Greyhound bus. I can't remember the exact cost, it was within reason, but not dirt cheap due to its size. You also need to be located near a terminal.

I bought two Jeep M715's last winter that went through Arkansas Forestry Service(if I remember right) before going to volunteer fire departments that had that type of seat cushion. I don't know if the U.S. Gov't or AR Forestry installed them before the VFD got them, or if the Gov't supplied...

See if you can find someone trustworthy in your area with experience working on axles. Setting up differentials is not really something that can be easily taught via the internet. There are specs to be adhered to, but there is also a little 'touch and feel' to it.

The pinion should not be moving in and out of the housing.
