    New to me A3

Congrats on your A3, I love mine. Mind the transmission, what fluid is in it; 10W40 or ATF? Mine came from the Air Force with ATF. After servicing it I lost the 4 gear/rev circuit. The dreaded internal seal failure. It's coming out for overhaul. Keep her exercised.

M35A2 military conversion to diesel only?

Yes, if the FDC has been bypassed, diesel only is the recommendation. It will run on other fuels, however it may lead to detrimental consequences. Remember, this engine was designed to operate reliably under combat conditions, hopefully you are not being shot at. Run diesel.

    Whoops. Gas in the tank.

Like all have stated, No Problem, toss a couple little bottles of 2 stroke oil in the tank. She'll purr like a kitten. Pay attention next time.

M35A2 military conversion to diesel only?

Post up a picture of the engine data plate, located on the right side of the engine block. Bypassing the fuel density compensator (FDC) would lend the engine to diesel only. Other than that, your truck should be equiped with a multi-fuel engine.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Herculiner is commercially available; Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, Amazon. -all the "A" stores. Spray cans, or gallons for roll on. Stuff works.

    Just joined the Deuce club!

You have it covered, if it was summer, a can of Wasp/Horent spray. With all that preparations, Mr. Murphy will most likely leave you alone. ROAD TRIP.

Yep, same data plate, my truck's vin: 05D78771 C13710163. I think they're cousins. Also source a spare battery switch. Simple R & R. And trouble shooting.

    M813 Wake Up Thread

Ajax, Your observations are pretty typical of these old trucks. "Nature of the beast". The "dead" battery switch is very common, it 's issue resides in the PCB. Old relays, just cycle the batt switch until the volt meter come alive. My 925 has that issue occasionally. As for the primer on the...

What have you done WITH your wrecker this week?

That's not playing, that's working.... love the bullet holes in the wind shield. Hopefully that was target practice and not demand for payment.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

[] I've been prepping the inside of my cab for some paint. Rolled on some Herculiner on the floor boards and will spray over it with color this weekend. Going to look new with the new spring seat and passenger seat covers.

    Troop seat?

Yep, incorrect part for the M35. That is one half of a side for an extend bed 5 ton. Time to source the correct racks/seats. Beat the bushes, their out there. The forward rack also looks to be "modified" with the ends sawed off.

    M35a2 6x6

Correct, you want the TC to get warm and have the diesel fuel get good and circulated. No heavy hauling or hill climbing, just nice level cruise, it may take two flushs. It is worth the time, very easy to drain and fill. Diesel is cheap.

    M35a2 6x6

I had the same issue with the transfer case in my M813, intermittent engagement, I got solid advice from Ron Harris (KGR). He instructed me to drain, fill with diesel fuel and drive the truck (un loaded) for a couple miles. He said that when I drain it I'll find scale, crap, and dead bugs in...
