Mogs are not made for mud, especially the U1300L. They weigh in at 12,000 lbs and if there is mud, they will sink. Mogs are much better suited for rock crawling and off camber stuff. They are almost unstoppable.
It was a pleasure to see the GL people at Aberdeen. They were very friendly and had a small tent set up with a very warm propane heater.
It was good to meet Robyn, the SS / GL representative. She always had a smile and was eager to greet you.
A little off topic but I saw a newer Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a Ford Econoline 350 school bus on a tow dolly. Some people really aren't too bright. That dually bus probably weighed twice as much as the Cherokee.
I've rolled Aervoe and you couldn't even tell where the roller marks were. Because the paint is flat, you shouldn't have any problem with blending the edges. I painted an enclosed trailer and it looked great...until the Aervoe faded and turned to gray in two years.
Bill,
Let me know if you need help picking it up. Lakehurst is not too far from me. I've can borrow a truck and trailer if you need it to be hauled. Welcome to the site!
The Red Serial had a smooth ride down to Aberdeen. NO problems at all. We arrived around 1 pm. Overall, the Red Serial had nine vehicles including (2) M1008, (1) M151A2, (1) Pinzgauer 712, (3) M35A2, (1) 5 ton, and (1) Crown Vic Station Wagon Escort Vehicle (driven by yours truly).
There...
I'm heading out soon to cross the state of NJ to link up with the Red Serial in Bordentown. It's not raining here on the shore but showers are expected.
Finding a rust free CUCV is not easy. Remember, this body style is prone to rust...no matter where you keep it.
I've got my M1009 for sale and will be bringing it from Nevada to the east coast within a month. PM me if interested.
1. Well said Bob!
2. I've signed up twice but my name is not on the list.
3. Thanks Cdub for the update.
4. I still have people asking questions and are confused when they don't get answers.
If any of you get a chance to meet Rick and his M1007, make sure you do so. The work he did on this truck is superb and he is one helluva great guy.
Thanks for posting the pics Rick!
"My wife said if I brought home another military vehicle, it better have a bed in it because that is where I will be sleeping. Does a dropside count as a bed?"
