battery drain
I've had the same problem in my working M35A2 since I own it. A small current draw that I cannot find. I suspect the light switch is the culprit. The disconnect between the two batteries will work. That is the way I have mine set up. As I figure at that location the switch...
M1075- I like the 14.5s but the 15.5s will be a little taller and give me a bit more road speed. Derby- The bed is from a 3500 Chevy that I made longer and beefed up. For a 5 ton you would need something bigger and heavier.
deuce
Tires are 14.5R20 XLs. Next ones will be 15.5R20s. Yes they are homemade wheels. The thing on the front is a plow mount. It's on for the winter; I take it off for the summer. Four pins and two bolts and it's gone. Side pics to come maybe tomorrow; it's dark here now.
cab protector
No the bed's a civvy one. I did raise the front headboard so that the bed height would match the cab height. Wanted to keep the height the same so as to not catch on tree limbs/branches and to fit into my old shop. Space between the cab/headboard is for a spare mount soon to...
I thought I did the attachment thing correct, but my pictures are not posting. What is the proceedure? I've read the FAQ's and it seems I'm doing it as I should. Thanks, Rick
I read the forums every day but seldom have much to say. Here's three pictures of my "working deuce". It's a 1971 AM General M35A2 which is a desest storm vet. It was in horrible shape when I got it for the hauling. No doors, rusted cab, head gasket blown, wrecked bumper, rusted bed. A...
I've run one of my spares right in the can with good results. You could pull out the cradle and put legs on it for better access but to really work on it you will need a diesel stand. I picked one up at Mechanicsburg DRMO for 60.00; I still have to make the mounting plate to use it with a...
non-turbo deuce
David, I have a 71 AM General that was non-turbo when I got it. I'm at work; will get numbers for you over the weekend and send them to you. It was in Desert Storm by the way; was a rusted mess when I got it but was painted sand with the inverted V. Do you know if some of...
Have any of you guys towed an 832 or 840 shelter dolly with shelter behind your deuce or 5 ton? If so how do they tow at road speed? I have one without the shelter and before I get a shelter would like to know how they tow. Do they wander from side to side? I've towed it without the...
hardtop project
Hi all,
I read the about the interest a few of you had about upper window frames. I did just that about 3 years ago and they work great. I took 1" x 2" square metal tube and cut off the one wall on the 1" side. Welded to my door and got channel liner from J.C Whitney...
fuel pump source
Fellas, do a search for Olympic Controls or call (847) 742-3566, I just spoke with a gentleman in sales there this morning and he indicated they would sell to individuals any number of pumps from one on up. They are the original in-tank pump manufacturers for Uncle Sam. Rick
thought on tires vs power...etc
Spicergear, I didn't know there was another green nut so close to me. I drive through Dauphin every day I go to work. Anyway, on the tires vs power issue, my duece is a work truck and I actually noticed better pulling when I went to 1100x20 from 900x20. Around...
non-blinking blinker
I had the same problem with my Deuce dump which I use on a regular basis. Cleaned grounds and still intermittant. Sometimes would blink for a while then stop. The truck is a functional one, not restored to 100% and I needed reliability. I went to NAPA and asked for a...
