    Repower: 6.5L vs 6.5L Turbo

Thanks Action! As Jeremy Clarkson would say, "How hard could it be?" (Since it's too big to upload a link will have to suffice...) https://www.carthrottle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/clarksons-tools.gif

    Repower: 6.5L vs 6.5L Turbo

RWH, Do you happen to have or know a source for measurements/dimensions on what areas need trimmed/modified? Just want to file the info away for when I need it. Thanks!

M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

Good to hear you're sticking with it! It's kind of hard to deny these trucks were designed for majority on road operation when AMG says so and the NHTSA affirms it twice. That PDF cwc posted has been very informative. FYI, if you hadn't noticed, a couple of the links in it are dead but...

    Exhaust ?

I had a hole in my crossover pipe near the flange at the driver's side manifold. Ended up just buying a new one and keeping the exhaust stock. It's a pretty free flowing exhaust from what I can tell plus, I want to install a deep fording kit on my truck eventually and changing up the exhaust...

My first hummer.....which one is best

:p And I thought the same thing about the trademark.

My first hummer.....which one is best

Well, according to my 1985 vintage, highly stylish, collectable belt buckle from LTV Aerospace and Defense, the M998 is called the Hummer and this predates the civilian Hummer (aka H1) by 7 years. In case you can't read that, it says, "Fifth In A Collector Series. M998 Series 1...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

If only! It's a regional restaurant with automotive/motorsports themes. They have cruise ins, bike nights, and best of all, all you can eat wings on Tuesdays! Looks like they've got one in Bristol and one in Newport News, so not really close to you unfortunately. I'm going to try to...

    Montana titles from GP

No, after Florida quit issuing off road titles GP switched to Montana for off road titles.

How much did you pay for your M998/humvee?

Bought my 1994 M998A1 from GP last January when prices were a bit higher due to a lot of the initial excitement remaining. "Out the door" ended up paying $10,250. Was looking for one regional to me so I could pick it up. Got it from Ft. Campbell. Was a very solid looking truck. 4 man A1 (10k...

    Hmmwv runs great then dies

Nope. I've turned up my injection pump 1/6th a turn and still don't have black smoke under acceleration.

M1123 Purchase and Build Thread - Virginia

It sounds like you're on it with your local rep. I suggest downloading this PDF cwc posted and presenting the information in it to your rep for supporting evidence. There are plenty of letters/memos that state 1) the HMMWV is considered a "motor vehicle" by the NHTSA designed to operate on...

    Humvees in the winter

I installed an MRAP heater in mine. Detailed here. Has rear heat now and works perfect!

    Cleaning?

:o those would be some pretty big field expedient drain holes! 1x1/2"... Maybe a bayonet or hatchet was used to make them? Thankfully mine didn't have anything like that when I got it so I was able to see where water was pooling worst and add what I needed. Got rubber plugs for most of them...

Donaldson Pre Cleaner-Full View on HMMWV: Good Idea, Bad Idea or Waste of Money?

Can't speak to the Donaldson precleaner but I've got the Turbo III, which seems to be similar to the Sy-Klone, and it seems to be doing a decent job from what I can tell. My filter looked brand new when I got my truck and was dated pretty recently. Put the Turbo III on before I started driving...

    Cleaning?

Yep, like Action said, make sure your drain holes are clear. Also, there are supposed to be small drain passthroughs from some of the more closed off compartments to the drain hole areas. Those plug easily. You may even have to (judiciously) add a couple drain holes if your truck didn't have any...

    soft/hard doors

Just bumping to see if you've made any more progress and have build details to share yet, OP. 8-) I'm probably getting some new soft doors soon and the old ones are in pretty decent shape since I refurbed them. Would be perfect donor doors for this project.

NIB = New In Box I guess you could consider them NOS (New, Old Stock) too. Check your PMs.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

No problem! Trucklite does make a military version with the Packard connectors but I don't think there's really any other difference. We were discussing them here. There are definitely a lot of LED headlight options! A buddy of mine and fellow SS member just scored a set of Dialight headlights...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I've got the same lights on my truck. Those are the Trucklite LED headlights and it sounds like he did exactly what I did. Bought a set of civi lights, cut the standard connectors off of them, and cut the Packard connectors off of his old halogens to reuse. I used butt splices to install them on...

    Fuel gauge goes to half

If he's lucky, his truck might have an access hatch cut into the deck like mine did. Then you just need to lower your tank a couple inches and it will come right out through it. This is the only shot I have handy of the access hatch on mine from when I was putting Monstaliner down in the tub...
