One more question for the experts out there. I will be towing the jeep home on a car hauler so I will probably be doing about 75mph, should I take the top off or can it handle those kinds of speeds?
Thanks again for the advise. I am going to pull the trigger on this one. I will post all the details on monday night when she arrives at the new homestead.
Thanks for the advise. I think I will go for this one if we can agree on a fair price, I will be sure to post pictures if I get it and just leave it 12V for the time being. I love the one in the SS classifieds but it is miles out of this poor college students budget.
I just sold my dirt bike which had given me a little extra spending money for my seemingly perpetual search for a M38a1. I have located one that looks pretty good but it is 12V. I know that can pretty severely effect the value so I would probably change it back eventually. I will post some...
Also look in the bumpers for blackout lights and the blackout switch on the dash. The will also be rifle holders behind the drivers seat and a grill guard. If all that has been removed look at the VIN, there is a thread somewhere on the site that shows what all the digits mean.
Land rovers especially have a terrible reputation for reliability. If you watch the british top gear they always make fun of them. Sounds like you have had some good luck though, you should have played the mega-millions a few weeks back.
My cucv leaked pretty bad through the windows and seal around the top but luckily i had plenty of rust induced drain holes in the floor boards to prevent puddles:)
Welcome to the addiction. You should have no problem finding all the information you need and more here. As one other member said it's like trying get a drink from a fire hose. Remember, the search function is your best friend. Good luck in your search.
I think my neighbors only smiled when I sold my m1009. I work mornings and I dont think they enjoyed the old diesel firing up before 6am 20 ft from their bedroom window. If I get a deuce this summer they might just move.
It's all about magnitude of force. If you happen to be in your 13,000lb deuce when you are t-boned by a 3000lb prius, the force you will experience will be almost 5 times less than the driver of the prius. It's a battle of the lug nuts out there, the man with the most wins.
With how clean it is I would feel comfortable in the $5000 to $6000 range. Maybe a little higher if it looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.
Check the exciter wires on gen 2, that seems to cause alot of the problems. Gen problems are fairly common so you should be able to find a thread that describes problems similar to yours fairly easily.
