    Oil canister problem....

Are you using a Hex socket? If it doesn't want to go on, try trueing up the shoulders of the nut, with a file, so you get a good, full fit, and use a lot of down pressure, so it doesn't want to cam off. If you haven't run your truck for a while, those filters will have mostly drained back...

SF97 for M101A3 with unreadable data plate (No S/N)

I had one with non-ledgible numbers. A GL administrator said to use something like "US Army Standard", and it went sailing through.

    Cutting oil as fuel?

It seems like the purpose for the cutting oil, is not to lubricate, but to remove the heat, generated by the cutting process. That while its called oil, it might not have much in the way of lubrication. Here, we have two distinct diesel fuels: #1 & #2. Some engines don't run well on #1, our...

I have read a lot not sure to buy

FT said it. Even with the best of intent, its hard to tell, a strong runner. Do your best inspection, but then you just have to go on a gut feeling, and hope for the best. These are big complex vehicles, but they are not without their maintenance requirements. Good Luck

    Loose wheel-nut indicators OliveDrab anyone?

Your kindly welcome. I have tri-focals, but some Folks need more help being safe.

    Loose wheel-nut indicators OliveDrab anyone?

These are for Amatures. Loose nuts will have a minute line of rust around the edges. You can see that in your "walk around"! A Pro, already knows that.

    Air Pack Bad??/Time for rebuild?

Air Pack or not, you have to find the leak. There is a standard DOT test, that says that your air should not leak off for a certain time. If you have full air pressure, and you shut off the truck, how long does it take, before the buzzer comes on, at 60 PSI? Same thing, full air, shut it off...

    Estimate fuel costs or shipping?

RTK has a way with words.... its the "Flame Outs", that will jack the cost. That M931 is no town car to bring in for service - few shops will have experience or parts. Another option is that the trailer would be towable by some OTR trucker (if the lights would hook up). Also, I would...

    M345 10 ton Trailer

As far as a flat bed for a Deuce, I have my thoughts on the M989 (don't confuse that with its brother M989A1). I don't need a 5 ton, as I have an OTR truck & trailer, but have little use for it any more. The M345 i nice, but the M989 weighs 1/2 as much, and would take care of my needs. It...

Trip to Coleman's Surplus in Millersburg, PA. Nov. 23, 2013

They all have the same NSN. Try the other one. Great Deal! Yes, the 5 Ton makes the Deuce look like a town car.

    Tow air lines.

Thinking about it, I answered my own question. From the Tow vehicle, one would use the Service line, running it to the Towed vehicle and plumbing it into the rear of the Towed vheicles' air pack.

    Tow air lines.

That would be the Service line, into the air pack. Does the Emergency line get plumbed in too? Where?

M931 piggyback recovery from Camp Shelby

Congtatulations! Great adventure, I see what you mean by the cradle sagging. I would have thought that something like 2x6 would have been minimum. Yes, a pic of the ramps would be great.

Erik's is a good place to shop.

Would you pull a M101A3 with a 04 Nissan Xterra?

Folks get away with pulling a lot of stuff. That doesn't make it safe. Eliminating the trailer brakes, to save a couple hundred pounds, substantially increases the risk!

    S-250 Shelter Power Receptical Question

Do you have the mating plugs for them? That can be a challenge - find the other end. Conventional plugs offer more options, and the potiential to help with the generator, in other applications.

    715 found, worth it?

I think the smaller vehicles, are worth more, the the bigger stuff is. If I was in the market, and could get it for 6K, I'd jump on it. It doesn't take long, buying little stuff. Nothing else is cheap.

    MEP003a oil

I run Dello, 15-40 in everything - including my Toyota. If its cold, put enough heat on it to have the oil drip off the dip stick, then start it. Commercial truck companies routinely get 1000K miles from engines with extended oil changes (20,000 to 30,000 miles, depending on the application)...

    M101A2 Roof top tent trailer

The trailer looks good. I think you'll be happy with it. I agree with the above, and sometimes there is a liottle noise with the lunettes, but once you know and understand what makes the noise, its really no bother. If you do want to change to a ball, a replacement is availiable for that...
