I can rest a little easier now
confimation on GP card...burned out
like doghead said I just wired in a pushbutton starter switch and relay works when I want, less room for mechanical/electrical failure....good stuff
from a previous thread I can also update that the tranny shifts normal...
Thanks for the tips!
This winter is here I think...I am new to diesels, (the 6.2 doesn't get good cold weather reviews) and I dont want to get caught tring to figure out how to warm the coolant/oil at 2:00 AM when i'm suppost to be hitting my snow plow route
I have to say that this site is...
the white smoke could just be from condensation in the ex pipe...very common
running rough usually indicates un-even cylinder pressure, there are some useful fixes for
that....you might even try checking/re-adjusting valve lash(just as important as tolerance between piston and bore), it's...
I second somemedic with most and add...
tranny filter kit and 6 new Quarts of dextron 3
all diff oils changed
repack wheel bearings(replace as necessary)
check brakes
new rubber lines(vaccum/fuel)
check U-joints....thier no fun to replace on the side of the road
check steering componants...
I've seen freeze plug heaters, oil dipstick heaters, fuel line heaters, even big magnetic heaters that stick to your oil pan underneath to warm the oil....any thoughts?
I would use great stuff instead if a gasket ( let it setup for 30 minutes or so before installing, and a new oil seal for the tranny to transfer leak. Then you shouldn't ever have to do it again:!:
Is it possible that it has 114,000...mine is almost as clean as they come and has 74000 or 174000.
With the assumption that it has over 100k, the only thing I can think of would be carbon and maybe 2 much crap in the cylinders to be cleaned by a single bottle of injector cleaner.
I will admit...
About the turbo....my friend happen to be sitting by the computer I had left on yesterday...and now I remember what he said about the turbo issues. Check the waste gate, it is the only good reason that it wont spool up, he's good with the cummins so hopefully there's something there.
I had to do the heater core in my 03' S-10..... it took 18 hours. I could probably cut that down to 12 now that I have done it once. I think GM's book time to do it is 12 or more!
If your real handy you can pop out the pistons in the caliper and use some very fine emery to clean them up...I believe you can still buy that big o-ring for them too. by the way, you'll get great results from synthetic grease
is there a reason no one uses delo 400? i've always heard it's good oil and thats what I plan to refill with on first oil change for my 1008.
other wise i use napa tranny fluid/coolant(not 50/50 pre-mix, what a rip off)
valvoline diff fluid 80-90
oh ya, always napa GOLD oil filter
I...
first off the 14 bolt is better than the 70 because of the pinion support bearing
also it was pretty rare to see 70s in chevy trucks anywhere 73-87 so it was probably a 14
If the camper special truck was 2 wheel drive with automatic tranny was most likely 4.10 gears but could have been 3.73s...
Glow plug module?
could glow plug module be source of all problems....
I went to napa to have them test GPR (first one from truck...original) because it has 12v on top big post and both small posts when connected at truck,
they tested it and couldn't get the click, hence forth it is bad...
