Wow!
Another rotten X on a steering axle. These tires are a pos and you can't find them anywhere. I have the same tire position with a shredded sidewall. Thank God I saw it and took the truck out of service before I too had the same brown seat event! What are the date codes on your tires...
The Haldex dryer is a great addition to the M35. I never have any moisture in my tanks. I'm sure that it also keeps the air operated parts from corroding and getting gummed up
If you connect both vehicles and then try to start the 'good' truck, you'll be really beating the battery up. Have the good vehicle engine running when you connect. That way you can't drain the battery too low to start the good truck and wind up with 2 vehicles out of commission.
I would not paint it. Not for thermal reasons, but RF reasons. Why risk ruining the antenna because the coating had slot of titanium dioxide and reduced the antenna sensitivity in the microwave bands gps uses. Besides, where you mount the antenna (assuming the flat patch type that are about 3/8"...
The CTIS system vents all the lines to the wheels open when turned off, so there is aboliutely no reason to cap or seal the wheel lines if you disconnect since they are already open to the air through that large unfiltered exhaust tube at the bottom of the CTIS manifold. In fact, it is...
I posted similar info a few months ago. Add schrader valve (tire air valve) to the plugged monitoring port on the regulator so you can set the output pressure and to diagnose future problems with a tire pressure gage.
Doesn't PVC crack and become brittle (crumble) over time when exposed to brake fluid? Polyethylene may hold up better. I think that's what the auto reservoirs might use.
Since you didn't originally fill the brake system and cannot determine that ALL the fluid in the system (MC, air pack, wheel cyls) is all pure DOT 5 and has had no water incursion, etc. I would strongly suggest purging and refilling with fresh DOT 5. There are reputable vendors of fresh Mil...
Not only is it a good idea from a safety point of view, but it is required equipment on any street licensed vehicle with air or air assisted brakes and must limit system air pressure to under 175 psi. It is a federal DOT requirement that each state codifies in its motor vehicle regs.
Just because the truck is lighter does not mean it will stop 'better'. By removing an axle, you also removed one third of the brake capacity. Also please read the postings on this site regarding the A2 having only a single circuit brake system. With all the mass of a deuce and their age, I'd be...
The tranny shift point is correct. Please make sure to put 'real' aft in the trucks! Uncle Sam runs 10w-40 motor oil in them for simplicity of maintenance but it significantly reduces life & performance. Check the a3 tranny threads and you'll see many indicating how by cleaning out the oil and...
