Yea i was pretty happy that was all it was. There was a pretty big fire. Most of what went up in flames was the rubber. It was such a pain just getting to that part of the harness I am not going to trace it out. It would not be worth it. What would be the best way to fix the "Y" set up? heat...

Also i messed up a little and the batteries hit the wing nut. So i took the latches off the plastic box and mounted them to the metal one. Here are the finished product. - paint
Here is the culprit. The metal clamp above the steering column. It looks like it chafed for a while and finally grounded out. So i was able to get the tape off and dig in. This wire was pulled out from a big glob of rubber. I am guessing they did this as protection for the "Y" splice. No idea...
lol. Until I read the manuals and talked to the "experts" like you, warthog, and Recovery.
Good thing I go to both family reunions.
I think I'm gonna undo the harness and see whats going on in there, Repair as needed to buy me some time and then look for a new harness
Had some problems with the deuce today. Went to get a vin check and when I came home I was testing all of the lights. Then I hit the high beam switch sparks started flying by the switch then the wires above the steering wheel started to catch fire. I did some good damage. I was able to put it...
It looks a million times better with it painted. I was having a hard time with the seam sealer. It was coming out hard so it made a mess. No big deal its not a show queen. I flipped the box upside down cut out the bottom but left a lip for the new steal to sit on. Then welded it in. I believe it...
1031s have been bringing in a lot of money. If it is rust free it sounds like a decent deal. Try to knock him down. Parts are a dime a dozen for those trucks. so the missing stuff is easy to find.
my battery box was rusted through so i decided to patch it up because i did not like the plastic box i just got. I re-skined the bottom and added uni strut on the bottom to make my clamps. Pictures explain everything. Then mounted a ammo can for my center console.
There was a post a while back about pipe cleaner looking wire brushes. Also that is a common fuse that gives people problems. On mine I had to add solder to it so it would make a tight contact.
picking up my first deuce this saturday. We will be trailering it home with a 3 axle trailer and a flatbed duramax. It is a very clean m35a2c wo/w (flatbed no sides). picking it up from Maine 285 miles each way. won last week on GSA. pictures to come
