Hey You guys, The MTA show at the Sussex Co.Fairgrounds in April Is going to be the best show for the east coast. We are closing in on Aberdeen. We are earlier and we have it all . We have a huge display, Hundreds of vendors and you can run around all over the place in the fairgrounds. We...
The clutch disc is standard. The fly wheel needs to be surfaced as well as the pressure plate. the assembly you have displaued is only about eighty lbs. the pallet will be fine. I have all my parts in a card board box. We are doing a clutch job right now and total cost is about three hundred...
Now, back to the chipper idea. Seriously, I have my signs up and am trying to secure a spot down the street to park the wate rbuffalo w/ the banner. Hopefully that will get done this week.
First, just go and kick the tires. Start it up and see if it will move on its own. Then see if it will stop on its own ( without the use of a secondary object, like a tree or another vehicle) If after that, you actually win the truck, You can always post the need for help. Never buy something...
Definitely a 108. It looks more intact than not. Heve you inquired about a price for the hulk? JT is probably closer to the thing but I would love to step up and rescue it. Where exactly is the junk yard located? Do you have a name and phone numger for the prop? I'm in NJ
I haven't used sea foam but I have found that xylen is a great cleaning agent for the crud in the fuel tank and fuel lines. Use a blow gun to run it through the lines and let it sit for a day in the tank itself before draining and using the power washer in the fuel tank. Just be sure to get all...
Now that we are motivated again, lets see more pictures. Especially, of the chubby fat guy. That will get more girl visitors to the site. Good job of keeping the motorpool clean too.
Hard top or soft top, it makes no diference to me. Hard top is better with the snow but going topless in the hot sun if you are hung up in traffic is a bear as well. The trucks were hot they are hot today and will always be hot, loud and a lot of times smokey, that is why we love 'em
Don't forget to mention the trucks. There will be lots of trucks to see. Can't say how many I will be bringing this year but if it is running, I'll be bringing it. and I'm sure Vito will have his fleet there as well. This year,I hope to give the Doyle boys a hand bringing in some stuff from...
Thanks Kenny and Gimpy. This is the best thread I have read in a long time. We were working on a fuel problem with a deuce we are restoring now and had already replaced the HH. got it all back together and discovered one of our problems was that the fuel shut off lever was sticking really bad...
Heat and beat with your impact driver. after that doesn work, weld a sharpened bolt into the boogered screw hole and work it out with and impact socket
We got so all fuzzy and stuff we had to start bobbing a deuce that has been in the yard for too long. Got the cab and bed removed and repositioned the truck in front of the shop bay for the removal of the rear bogies. It has been a busy weekend:grd:
This week we pulled the entire front axel from under a M816. We stripped it all down and determined that everything except the differential was toast. A used front axel was bought and reinstalled and we were running sunday afternoon. We then used the crane to finish removing the cab and bed...
The front axel was installed yesterday and we finished up all the little stuff this morning. The job was success. Wheels turn, brakes work, wheels turn left and right. Next is to drain the oil and lube the whole front assy. Then adjust the brakes . We found one bad boot that will need to be...
We have a whole assembly now. Paul went and got in his pickup. I was napping when he pulled in but we will offload it in the AM. Hopefully it is serviceable and we can get on with the repairs. [thumbzup]
Glad to see you settled your brake issue. I just want to know why it took three hours to rebuild a master cylinder? Did you drink a lot of beer? Did a lot of your friends stop by or what? Did your wife shut you down in the middle of the job?:funny:
I also note that the front suspension on these trucks has never been upgraded. I think that although the front axels are very robust, the excess weight of the Cummins engine is causing a lot of stress on the berings and other components in the fron end.
I'm doing a front axel on a M816 now...
O D trans in multifuel
Gimpyrobb, I couldn't remember if I responded to your question. Sorry if I am repeating myself. The truck had the overdrive trans installed later. It was not original equipment. I made the switch on another truck since and it went very well. Just use the proper alingment...
