    73Y2 ignition switch

Where/how can I get one that is coded to work off a standard CUCV "B" key? Mine works, but only forward, no ACC stop when turned rearward. I am pretty handy with household/hobby locksmithing; but have looked the cylinder over and can't figure out how to pull the cylinder apart without permanent...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

Well I figured I could turn the key to the "ON" position and listen to the radio...if I want to burn up the Glow Plugs. I know that the ACC and IGN positions on the fusebox will be useful if the ACC on the key switch can be attained. What I don't know is why the he¢k the key won't turn to...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

Yep, that's what I though... but the only direction the key switch will turn is ahead toward "RUN" and "START". I cannot turn it rearward toward the "ACC" like I can on my other Chevys. Is there a way to get this working? I don't want to hard wire this to the fuse box and risk a battery drain...

My new ignition switch has an accessory stop but...

The new ignition switch- the one that actually is located under the dash on top of the steering column, has an "accessory" stop; but I can't rotate my key rearward to it. Do M1009s not have this ability. I have a new scanner and CB that I'd like to run in accessory.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Scanner, CB, New Clarion 2 post radio/cassette Bought a CB a while back- still not installed. At the wrecking yard a couple of days ago and found a d@mn nice antenna for it. Bought a new scanner antenna and scanner installed them today. Works great. At the yard today I looked around for a...

    Starter not engaging... I think.

I received a message from another member that asked if I had resolved this issue yet. I hate forgetting to close out a thread. I may have addressed this in another thread; but in a nutshell: The problem was the drive gear on the starter- the clutch seemed to be slipping. I called Wilson, the...

No lights at all except for break lights

86hollis, Hang in there with your truck. I have found that the more problems you have to tackle to fix your truck and get it to operate correctly, the better you will know your ride- this helps immensely when things break down on the trail. Where possible try to get the wiring especially back...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Wayne pick, good to hear there were no greater roadside issues. Got me thinking about working so high up. I usually step on top of one of my ammo can tool boxes. I have seen those steps that hook over the tire, and the ones that double as the front plate frame. They may give too much elevation...

    In glass antenna mod

I have had the same in-glass antenna on my Chevy C20. The antenna has been good- my guess is a super high tech model- as I am sure they are produced, will get stellar results; but I have been happy with reception in that truck since 74. A modern radio would definitely help as well. Note- after...

    New breather

I was able to download a Noise Meter app to my wife's Win7 phone. I ran 16 trials with the stock filter in place and 16 with the X-Stream top in place. The chart shows the crossed out anomalies and the corresponding trial- even though they may have been normal. I did this to eliminate (fairly)...

    How to store batteries

Last year I was having all these problems with my starter in the Blazer. I tried everything to chase the problem down- including replacing the 6TL batteries. Of course it wasn't the batteries aua. I have two new Group 31 batteries in place and the 6TL batteries are sitting on a pallet. Is...

    In glass antenna mod

I developed a crack in my windshield last week. I have comprehensive that covers the replacement- no deductible :-P. I wen't online to see what options there were in windows. The ones with the antenna in the glass were the same price from the local shops, so I ordered one up. Meanwhile, I ran...

    New breather

Man don't tell me that. I don't want to think about being in water that deep ever. I am not really a 4x4 guy. I use my truck during hunting and fishing season; but I don't go out of my way to temp providence. If I have to ford a stream of any kind, I guess I can play it safe and cover the top...

    New breather

Noise... hmmm? I was wondering this myself and got to looking at threads that addressed the under hood noise levels. This one by wallew from 2009 shows an open filter housing that is fairly common on gassers. He may have installed the under hood blanket and Fatmat combo to reduce noise from this...

    New breather

I had one of the K&N Filters from my truck lying around- I removed it to sell the truck as stock. It is pretty efficient as it allows more air in in addition to an open-sided type filter that it sat on top of. Besides… it does look cool. I thought I would just try to figure out how to...

    52 looking for 60ish

Vet89, I just changed all 4 tires out. I was running the stock sized Silent Armor Radials. I just changed to the Treadwright "Guard Dog". Here is a pic of them. They are a little noisier; but I have new(er) sound mats in the floor and doors, so it's not bad. These tires, by-the-way, are pretty...

Little Bit of Smoke in the Morning, is it Normal??

My Blazer will do this on cold start-ups. I think the longer the glow plugs have been on, the more smoke I see.

    52 looking for 60ish

I was like that when I got mine. Now I routinely drive 60-70 when on the interstate. I think I just got used to how much noise a diesel makes :?

New Grille Cover on Blazer (pics)

I installed the grill cover I ordered from Jatonka the other day. I gotta say, it was fast delivery, and fast to install. The quality seems top drawer as well. I ordered the "hardware Kit" I was glad to have it; but frankly, the parts would be half the price from ACE Hardware. Easy to install...
