would trade mah deuce for one of these

That rally truck is a race chassis with sheet metal to make it look like a truck. The production truck would not handle like that. It would be much slower & prone to rolling. The same as the off road Ford, Toyota, Chevy etc. They are nothing more than custom race chassis w/sheet metal.

What do you think of this Deuce? (pictures and starting video)

I would do it simply because a '65 wouldn't need a smog test in most states.

    attempted theft

I have CCTV cameras pointing all around my house ... a scumbag neighbor broke in a few years ago. I know he did it but didn't have proof enough to take him to court. Now, I have 2 cameras pointed directly at the truck & 2 more for the other cars. They run to a very high quality recorder &...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

Yes, that's why a 6 speed Allison would be behind it, possibly a different transfer case as well.

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

Thanks, That is just about the same as the LDT. When the weather warms up I think I'll go talk to the guy. If it's cheap enough I'll buy it and rebuild it at leisure. My multifuel is fine. But I sure like the 6 speed Allisons. And I enjoy rebuilding stuff when it can be done slowly. Now...

    engine alternatives for the deuce?

Mudguppy, Would you happen to know the specs on the Cummins 8.3 engines? I've searched everywhere online but cant find even simple specs like weight, length, width. I ask because there's a great donor vehicle a few hours away from me with an 8.3 and an Allison 6 speed. It's an older Medium...

    Lighting upgrades

LED's are actually crystals that have to be grown from a seed process. It's not just automotive LED's that are expensive. Household LED lighting is also very expensive. It's simply an expensive process to grow the crystals, at least high quality crystals. Of course given the amount of...

    Why Dead Batteries?

Wow! You guys have brought up stuff that I would have never even considered. Thanks. Yes, I have a 12 v center tap right now. But it's going bye-bye soon. Yes the starter looks really old. I've never heard of that metal deposit phenomenon but it makes sense. No, the light switch is not in...

    Why Dead Batteries?

Thanks for the info. The batteries are not even 2 years old. But I rarely used them. They were in a Suburban mounted for RV purposes like camping. They weren't exposed to harsh conditions but maybe they can't keep the charge. I'm surprised because Interstate batteries are usually pretty...

    Why Dead Batteries?

I didn't start the the truck last weekend. But since there is no digital radio/clock, ecu, or other obvious drain on the system I was not concerned. Today I went out to crank it and the batteries were dead. What in the world is connected to these trucks that makes the batteries drain so...

    Allison Trans

How are you going to connect it to the Multifuel engine? If you found a flex plate and starter, please be sure to provide us with parts numbers and hyperlinks.

    Allison Trans

I should add, the front axle pumpkin is already slightly shifted to the passenger side. But it's not nearly as shifted as a regular 4x4 like Landcruisers, Broncos, and so forth. What you should try to avoid is shifting the center-line of the transfer case rear output. That's why the front...

    Allison Trans

It will depend greatly on which Allison you choose. I've crawled under the truck with a measuring tape. With any of the medium duty Allisons 2000 & especially 3000 series you will have to remove/relocate the crossmember. The second big issue is the width of the Allison. They are large...

    Flushing Hydraulics

They have a used/one-of-a-kind inventory link on their website. I didn't buy it new. I think they are glad to get rid of the "trade-ins." I just called the guy & asked for a shipping quote. He called me back a few hours later. Four days later it was in my garage. Total cost was $1250 to my...

    Flushing Hydraulics

I was thinking of putting in some kind of inline filter somewhere. Surely they make those for hydraulic systems? I doubt if I will use the hydraulics more than a few times per year, mostly for hauling garbage to the dump. That's why I bought a used system instead of spending the money for...

It's just crying for love. That's all.

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

TM, could you explain this further. Is there a front disc conversion possible? I ask b/c if you have followed my mental-gymnastics about upgrading the brakes, you know that I plan to use the MC from a 7500 Kodiak/Topkick that use Hydromax. There are 6x4 Kodiak trucks with discs up front. If...

m35-a2 vs m35-a3 whichn is better

Your choice of an A3 is fine. I don't think they look bad at all. And any piece of machinery can be reliable with proper maintenance. I chose an A2 b/c of $$$. When I am finished modding I will have an A3, but with my choice of parts ... Cummins engine, Allison tranny, hydraulic p.s., etc...

    Shot In The Dark

On the top title bar under the Steel Soldiers title in orange go to Resources --> Classified Ads --> Vehicles. There are dozens of various military models for sale. Look for the ones that resemble your potential tractor. That's what I did to figure out all this M stuff.

Why the Deuce Doesn't Have These I'll Never Know!

2cents 1. Biodeisel is not "Green." With the depleted topsoil in the U.S., the crops require heavy fertilization. The production of fertilizer is based on petroleum. Yes, it is. This is fact. The biodeisel enthusiasts like to ignore that little tidbit. Hence, to produce biodeisel requires...
