There are also spray-on coatings available for heat shedding/sound absorption use - the spray-on coatings are nice from the standpoint that they won't absorb/trap moisture like some add-on sound-absorbing mats will -

There is a distinct advantage to having the laws allow daily use of your truck - you get an added bonus of the option to use it for parades or static display...

Costa Rica
Costa Rica will probably allow you to use your truck for more than just parades or static displays - heck, you might even get to haul something in the bed...

Maybe an engine option for you to look into is the 4.3 V6 (3/4's of a small-block Chevy) - plenty of power, smaller size.
And a thicker radiator core does not equate to more cooling... once your core gets past 2" thick, you start losing the ability for air to flow freely through the core to...
The question of HMMWV titling 'legally', under rules & regs defined by NHTSA/DOT/DMV/etc., has regularly been discussed.
By the Federal laws of the land, they simply are not/were not designed/built to be titled legally by citizens for use on U.S. public roads/highways/goat paths/etc... Why...
Make sure that you don't let the torque converter slide off of the transmission input shaft - I've seen guys bung-up the trans re-installation by not getting the TC reindexed properly back onto the input shaft & do damage to the converter...

Given enough time in the ownership of such a fine military vehicular specimen (), you'll need the tech manuals, so that you can read the following Chapter titles:
'If it's swollen, it;'s probably a Glow Plug'
'Why Have One Bad Generator, When You Can Have Two!'
'What To Do When Starters...
And if it has unshielded wiring/connectors like the current run of mil-vehicle programs, all bets are off for if functioning properly without having noise/signal issues...

Should fit in fine in Alabama, not so well here in NC... depends on how deaf your law enforcement people are. I did something similar to my truck when I was 16; the fun was over in 2 weeks when I got the 'fix-it' ticket from the Highway Patrol for 'improper exhaust/excessive noise'.

Okay....
The 6.6 Duramax is most definitely NOT a 'simple bolt in' - it has computer controls for the engine & transmission, and is not cheap.
The 6.2 is fine for what it is designed to do in the truck - you might consider regearing the axles & and engine refresh, if it has low compression...

Obviously, in a free speech forum, your right to speak freely is greater than my right? :?
I'm not against your right to own an MV, armored or otherwise. Armor-away, mon frere!
To the Liberal perception, MV ownership isn't logical - they ask 'why do you need such a vehicle?' I tell...
1) Move to a safer area.
2) Paint truck to look civilian.
Could conversations like this be the reason that some states wish to outlaw/remove the right to civvy MV ownership?
'Tanner'
So muni MV's get to haul loads, but civvy MV's cannot... nice. And why would the Legislature want to allow changes to this law down the road? My bet is that the law will remain intact, and future requests for changes to allow less restrictions by civilians will be ignored...

How does Wisconsin get around the 'no hauling in an M35' rule on state-owned M-series vehicles - like those that fire departments or US Forestry Service might use?
Did they exempt themselves?

Gentlemen -
I seem to be the only respondent here to note that OP is located in Wisconsin (current land of MV registering chaos); has anyone pointed out the potential grief that OP might go through in trying to get a newer M35 variant registered with WisDOT?
You want a driver or a...
