The M416 uses large diameter wheel bearings, and has a small cargo area, I doubt a negative offset wheel will cause any harm. I have towed a loaded 1/4-ton trailer with 8" wide wheels(lots of negative offset) thousands of miles with no wheel bearing problems.

You may also consider 7.50x16 NDT assuming they are still available. I've got a M101A1 with 7.50x16 highway treads on it, and it rode level behind a 2-wheel drve Dodge D150.
