And an even better question... Where are you guys getting "blem" batteries????
I need to get some 31's for my M1008, or I'm going to put civi battery holders in it and go that route... Blem 31's would be less work, and less money, which is always nice!!

Yeah, cutting brakes, that's kinda what I'm talking about. But as jesusgatos points out, you'd need a 6' lever and a big mastercyl to supply enough fluid and pressure to seat in two big deuce drum brakes... Hence my suggestion to use the line locks to keep pressure from the tires that aren't...
I broke the rears loose at work with a 3/4" impact on 140psi shop air, and they were tough... The fronts I did at home later... Couldn't budge them with a 3/4" breaker bar and a 4' pipe... A little heat on each with a map gas torch and I could loosen them but the first 1/4 turn was still not...
I don't think you'd need hardly any more brake jobs than normal... You're not spinning the tires at 50mph and standing on both pedals, you're in Low, 1st or 2nd gear, with very low wheel speeds, and using the brakes just enough to get the truck to crawl forward on it's own, which likely...
Ya know, it just occurred to me another even cheaper idea... If a person replumbed the rear brakes and tied the two left rears together on a circuit and the two right rears together on a circuit, you could use a momentary switch to the line lock on each circuit to hold pressure off one side or...
To go the cheapest route, you might lincoln lock the front and toss on some lockouts... That would allow you to drag the truck around a little easier by the front axle, which usually has decent traction thanks to weight, while allowing you to unlock completely to elim any steering issues when...
Ok, your LED headlights are AWESOME... But I can't help but think that this is somewhat akin to putting lipstick on a pig... They sure look sweet though!! When they get surplussed out at $50 each, I'm in!! :)
And where is the "driving impressions" part of this e-mail??? As expen$ive as...
I don't pay much attention to the light... I use the volt meter as my indication for when to crank... When the needle pops up (and you can hear the relay kick out) I crank. The light in my truck wants me to wait a few more seconds, but w/o voltage hitting them, the glows are cooling during...
Yeah, ditto on what tiger422 said... You've got some sort of issue with the axle seal that's inside the axle housing if you've got gear lube in the wheel bearings on the front axle. Front axle has to fill the knuckle boot about half full before it'll make it's way into the bearings...
Yeah, that's from a radiator. Those are the fins that go between the tubes, accordian style. It's possible they're from an old radiator that got replaced if you're opening the hood for the first time since you got the truck, but more likely that they're from the radiator that's in the truck...
Here it is... The long awaited (by me anyway!) final product of putting 11.00-20 NDT's on my deuce in single format. I flipped the hubs late this summer, and just ran the 9.00's on stock deuce wheels, which were fine. A few weeks ago I finally got to painting up the M34/M135 wheels that I...
I've been waiting for mine to do that but it hasn't... Do you let the truck sit for long periods?? Just wondering if driving mine frequently keeps the fuel sloshing and coats the top parts of the tank better, preventing corrosion. The UMO I run probably sticks to it better too... :)

Ok, with all this discussion, I'll admit it... I don't properly torque my lugnuts. When I got the truck, they were tight plus about a half a turn, and I had a heck of a time getting them off. Now I run them down with my 1/2 IR231 impact at 90psi on the #4 air setting. (with one of...
The standard deuce bows are either fiberglass or wood. Not metal, so you've got yourself a custom made set of bows there it seems. :)
I use small C-clamps to clamp the bows on my truck a foot or so higher for parades, and then I roll up the sides of the cover so the top of it makes a sun...
Really the only 24v on your truck is the starter, and sort-of the glow plug system. There is one 24v circuit that runs into and out of the truck for the starter system, and I think that crazy round connector under that dash probably has a few 24v wires in it. Mostly, the electrical system...
Ditto on the battery charging... no need to disconnect. just connect the charger to each battery individually. If you want to charge both at the same time, you either need two chargers, or you need a 24v charger.

I did the tranny swap thing in my current project M1008. Just found a complete 700R4/208 out of a civy 6.2L truck. Put a cooler on it and it'll be fine. Got me a lower 1st gear too, which is nice. I have the best of both worlds now, 4.56 gears and a highway capable truck. Now I can run it...
Well, I played in the snow last year, but doesn't look like I took any pics, other than this one. This is what it looked like when I got to it in the UP just after after NewYears... Had a little snow on it. :)
I'm excited to try my 11.00 equipped singled deuce in the snow this winter... I...
Am I the only one here who is sickened by the almost complete lack of rust on that sweet FSJ??? You can't find old cherokees in that nice of condition around here, and that one is getting cannibalized for it's drivetrain. :(
(I know, it's not an MV, but I'm not much of a discriminator...
The CUCV 2's or whaterver they're called that GM put out a few years back were mostly crewcab shortbox and crewcab longbox if it makes you feel better... :)
I think the Blazer CUCV was supposed to just be a radio vehicle... But even so, why wouldn't they have used the suburban?? Even came...
