    hood alignment

sheet metal alignment On each side of the engine compartment there is a panel that the fender meets. The panel on the driver side is approximately 1/2" lower, and the gap between this panel and the hood is not even. On the passenger side, the panel is higher, and even with the hood. How much...

    hood alignment

As I look at my M37 from the front, I notice that the front of the hood and grill appears lower on the driver side. So, the top of the hood is not parallel with the windshield frame. It also appears that the grill guard is about a 1/4" lower on the driver side. Any suggestions on how to get...

Planning the right M1009 for me

My 3+3 is fairly rust free, just a little in the rockers, and one bed fender lip. If I got a M1009, no matter what axles/gears it had, I wouldn't use it for heavy towing....gotta respect that short wheelbase. I would like it to be able to tow the M101A2 with an Alaskan type (hard sided popup)...

Planning the right M1009 for me

Some history to start my thread: I had a M1008 for a while, and really liked it, but it was just a little slow for my commute. Around town I loved it. I sold it, and bought a 1988 Chevy V30 Air Force crew cab pickup with a 6.2 and 4:10 gearing. The power and speed is sufficient for my driving...

    Chevy 292 six

Not that I am planning on it, but would a Chevy 292 straight six fit in an M37 without any cutting of sheet metal? Inquiring minds want to know. I was just thinking about the old ,59 Chevy panel truck I drove back in the seventies. H.

M569 trailer with compressor It is a 1962 M569 trailer with a compressor. I plan to use it, and maybe do a show or parade with it behind my M37 if I ever get it registered! H.

Pictures of M569 trailer mounted compressor Brought it home today, no problems encountered on the trip. The yard said they used it last year. Keeping my fingers crossed. H.

2 M37s Saved from the scrapper

That would be Pogo. He was a resident of Okefenokee Swamp along with a cast of some brilliant....and not so brilliant characters. Great books, and a lot of wisdom that is timeless.

    Compressor BMW 452 ENG-1

I went to preview a Dodge M880, and in the yard, they had a small compressor on a trailer. It has a single cylinder Wisconsin engine. The data tag says COMP AIR G.E.D. 15 C.F.M. Champion Pneumatic BMW 452 ENG-1. The tag also says it is on a "trailer, winterized". The guy at the facility says it...

    Three pickups compared: M37, M1008, M880

Thanks for all the replies. I looked at a M880 today. It is still wearing the original paint. It does have power steering in it though. It was well used, the bed looked like it had lots of heavy stuff thrown at it over the years. Not too rusty other than the rear cab mount areas. How do you...

    Three pickups compared: M37, M1008, M880

I have been wondering about these three trucks. I have owned and driven a M1008 as a daily driver. I just started experiencing an M37, and I have not had the chance to drive an M880. I know that one is the most off-froad oriented, and one is the most road oriented, and one falls in the middle...

    New truck, carburetor symptoms?

Joy of "having too much stuff" as my wife sometimes puts it... I remembered that my Korean War vintage generator is 24V, and that it has an electric fuel pump on it, along with a regulator. So I took it off the generator, and put it on the M37. The truck fired right up. I took a bunch of laps...

New Restoration Started on March 1953 M-37/42

Two questions: Did you get the cat in the deal? Did the leaves on the tree make it all the way home? Seriously though, glad you got it, and stopped it's eventual return to the earth. H.

    New truck, carburetor symptoms?

carburetor updates, gravity feed I took my carburetor off today, and found a layer of fine sediment on the bottom. The accelerator pump leather was shrunken and the pump is frozen. But, the truck was running on a gravity feed tank......just. I went through my original sealed spare...

    My New M37

I know a shop here in CT that does a lot of broken tap and broken extractor removal from engines and other items. Sadly, the engine must be brought to them. I believe it is some type of EDM (electrical discharge machining) process. I hate screw extractors, having broken a few back in my old VW...

    Dash tag question ORD CORP

My 1953 M37 will be needing paint as soon as it warms up. My daily driver is a 1988 Chevy ex-Air Force truck, and I like the Strata Blue color. Could an M37 Air Force truck have the procurement/depot maintenance tag stamped ORD CORP on the dash tag, or would it say USAF? I am thinking of...

M37 Still Won’t Start – Not Sure What To Look At Next

I had a little Crosley that sounded just like this. It turned out that the wire for the condenser was shorting to the distributor body. Although you have spark, so that may not be the case. I had a 1959 Apache panel truck that I rebuilt the motor on when I was in high school. I couldn't get it...

    New truck, carburetor symptoms?

I put a new set of batteries in my new M37 today. They are brand new, charged, good sized. Cables clean and tight. It turns over, but not as fast as I would expect for a low compression flathead with lots of cranking amps. I had a gravity feed fuel tank direct to the carburetor. It started...

    I wasn't looking for an M37...

Happy day, it started. I spent an hour on the truck today, borrowed batteries out of my pickup, filled the carburetor with fuel, primed it with a few drops, and it started right up! Now I am off to buy new batteries for it, fluids, and an external fuel filter. The brakes don't pump up at all...
