They are the same 855ci bock. I did forget to mention the piston coolers that bolkbich mentioned. There are several of us on this forum that are running the 250 with a turbo and haven't had any problems. I put a 290 pump on my truck and it runs great.
But back to the 290... A really good idea...
That's a great picture comparison gringle. Do you by any chance have that same picture for the combat rim. I have combat rims on my 5ton and I have reentered hemtt wheels on my deuce. I have not had any dealings with FMTV wheels that I know of. Still don't know the difference in FMTV wheels and...
That engine is basically what you get when you add a turbo to a non turbo Nhc250. You will have a lot of good parts there even if you don't use it to repower. Granted it is not going to be a 400 by no means but it should pull the wrecker pretty good after you work with the fuel pump a little bit.
the stuck wheel cylinder may be a possibility but i think you could still spin the drum if the spring was broke. does it spin at all? does the other side still spin?
In my m818 i used the type of pyro probe that make it own power so the gusge doesn't need any. then i installed a 24v bulb for the light. but i would imagine he got the power from some of the trailer side with the civy 12volt power. but could not have.
just curious but did you happen to loosen one brake shoe while tightening the other shoe. it the only thing that i can think of that might have caused this to happen. remember one of the top adjustment bolt its right tighty lefty loosey and the other one is the opposite. hope this helps if not...
Yea it's the same way in my m818. Had to change the throw out bearing and same way. Kinda stupid if you ask me but I wasn't around back then when they asked. rofl
they have been doing it for years. cummins made a kit to do it. it says it in the thread not sure what post it is but you can get all the literature from cummins.
It was a very simple upgrade. I believe I would install the turbo before i would go to all the trouble of doing an engine swap.
But if I was going to swap engines I would swap with something a little bigger than whats in a m939 series truck.
I have had the same problem since i put a winch on my m35a2c. it was from the air force as well. The winch came off a m35a2 unsure on the date and engine but i would say it was multi fuel. I have used mine like it was but not very much. I may try to grind the cover. Unsure as to what i am going...
