The frame number, commonly used for the VIN, is also on the frame (probably under about 10 layers of paint and invisible to the human eye) between the steering gear box and steering idler arm bracket. This number should match the "Mfr Ser No" block on the glove box data plate.
You'll probably...
There is a TM for "Common Metal and Wood Repair" that covers sheet metal repairs. It doesn't go into much detail other than on how to use hammer and dolly techniques. The TM number is 9-270. If you do a google search, you should be able to find a copy. There is a TB on Bondo (epoxy body...
I second what they said. John has always squared me away with what I was looking for from him. He has quite an extensive reproduction line and the new stuff is just as good as NOS. I have no complaints about the others either, all are good sources and have good customer service in my...
When I time my engine, I run jumper cables from my first battery out the window and to the engine bay. At the live ends I lay a piece of plywood under to keep them from shorting to the sheet metal with a spring clamp on the insulated part of each lead of the cable clamping it to the board...
Greetings all,
I came across a canvas cover that I think fits the 1/2 ton open cab Dodge but wasn't sure. It measures 96" x 126", has the 3 roll up buckles spaced 35" apart along the sides and 41" apart across the top, side to side. Can anyone confirm that this is for the 1/2 ton? It also...
Added this to your inquiry on the G503 site. A scan of the instructions that came with some NOS batteries I got a couple years back that covers dry batteries. It came out larger and easier to read on the G503 site.
Pretty much follows what Tennessee Colonel said with a few more specifics.
That stock number points to the G150, AKA: M4 Tractor high speed, 18-Ton Allis-Chalmers. Here is a link to Olive Drab.com on it. Might be the vehicle you are looking for. A search around might get you some better photos of the interior to confirm.
Anyone get any good photos? Here are a few I took. I didn't get a photo of the Swimmwagen. Anyone get a shot of it swimming? That was pretty cool.
All in all a very good show. The woods were literally full of vendors. Some of these photos were taken early Friday before everyone filled in...
Wow, that's kind of sporty looking. I know everyone restores their trucks back to military scheme but a CD truck might be an interesting project some day.
M37 Defroster Duct
Chief,
Here is a photo of my M37 defroster duct from when I first got it and before I refurbished it. These markings read, left phrase: "-WARNING- MAKE SURE DEFROSTER IS IN OFF POSITION BEFORE STARTING HEATER" in 1/2" letters; right phrase: "MAX. SPEED 35" in 1" letters...
Yes, the later trucks had them in the tank. The bed has a panel that is removable for access to it. A common service item? The manual pretty much says the filter is inspected every 1000 miles (Crew C interval), which wasn't very often for a tactical vehicle, or when troubleshooting fuel problems.
The plate in front of the voltage regulator is where the original fuel filter went on the earliest trucks. It was moved to the fuel tank and stayed there until the end of production. Some folks have supplemented them with inline filters patched in before the carb rather than continue to clean...
Congratulations on the truck. Drop over to the G741.org site as a lot of folks post photos of various truck parts and areas. You can probably find the specific photo you need. Most of us get the $20 CD with the pubs on them from Military Media (I think). The G741.org site is a great resource...
Congratulations on the find. Looks like it is in good shape.
If you haven't already, drop over to the G741.org site and post a hello there. Great bank of M37 experts.
That 101 trailer looks like one we had in Iraq. Going down the highway, the bolts let loose (overloaded probably) and the...
Greetings all,
The regular meeting that would be the second Saturday of the month is postponed until the following weekend. We will have one during the Rally & Swap Meet at the Ropkey Museum on the 18th.
Hope to see you there.
Sounds like you may not have the original tranny. However, if it is the original tranny, then yes, parts abound for those. I just picked up a complete tranny, ready to drop in for $150 at the Iola, WI show. I've seen plenty of ads for M37s and parts out in your region also.
I rebuilt the...
