Just another progress update... About two tons of crush and run is now down over the geo mat. Next comes the privacy fence on the open side and I'm done...

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

I know there will be some type of actuator that replaces the frequency adjustment cable. Maybe Peter will see this thread and chime in to answer any technical questions.

    MEP-803a auto frequency controller!

Some of you have followed my thread showing how I permanently installed my 803 as a whole house backup generator. Now that my project is nearly complete, I have began another quest to replace the manual frequency control cable with an electromechanical means of auto regulating the frequency with...

Strongly considering selling 002a to put towards 802a at auction.. opinions ?

Have you considered getting an 803? I'm total electric and have ran my oven, clothes dryer, and heat pump at the same time. This is in addition to the normal loads in the house. I don't care what anyone says about them being underpowered. I'll call BS on that. My unit powers everything I want. I...

Anyone replace 002/003 genset panel bulbs with LED's yet?

There are bulbs in the factory gauges. All you need to do is run a single wire from each of the three gauges to the switch that turns the panel lights on and you are good to go.

Anyone replace 002/003 genset panel bulbs with LED's yet?

Roughly the same. I later ordered the amber bulbs because I realized that I had no need for the green lights in a non-tactical situation. I also wired up the lights in three of my guages. the more lit up the better in my opinion.

Strongly considering selling 002a to put towards 802a at auction.. opinions ?

I ran an MEP-802a for nearly five straight days earlier this year when we had our ice storm. I burned 5 gallons of diesel per 24 hours and ran everything in my house without issues. At the time, we were on natural gas for heat. Now I am in a total electric house and have elected to go with a...

    Belt for MEP-803A

    And it's actually a serpentine belt, not a V-belt...

    Belt for MEP-803A

Since nobody else could help me, the Logistics Specialist in me helped myself. If anyone else would like to know, the proper replacement serpentine belt for the MEP-803A and likely the MEP-802A is the Goodyear 4040355 Gatorback Serpentine Belt. It lists for less than $10 at some of the national...

    Belt for MEP-803A

Found the belt I need for my MEP-803A! I'm sure somewhere it's been asked but I'm looking for a Gates part number or belt length for a suitable replacement V-belt. I'm in the process of collecting up a few spare parts, filters, etc. and want an extra belt for my stash...

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

Finished! Well, this morning I finished plumbing it. I used the military aux fuel line shortened to the length that I needed and installed a large fuel/water seperator in between the aux tank and the generator for added protection. To finish the job, all I need to do now is spread a yard of...

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

I've exhausted my resources and I can't find anything saying that I'm not allowed to put a diesel tank outside my home. So I guess I'm just going to proceed with it. There are plenty of regulations for commercial entities storing mass quantities of fuel, but none that I found readily available...

My switch was ordered from the local electrical supply warehouse. It was about $680 but used ones can be had on eBay for less. I just didn't want to monkey with something that was all butchered up. I've seen them for as cheap as $250 used.

Connected my MEP-803A the proper way as my home standby generator... Install pics...

Great point and a question I can't answer. I guess I will wait before digging the holes. "Fence camouflage" would be cool but I'm just going to build another fence to keep the dogs and kids out of that area when the project is done. I figure the fence will add another level of sound attenuation...

Does anyone know how well the diesel will fare in long term storage in this aluminum tank? I know that once I get 90 gallons in there, I need to add Pri-D. I'm wondering if I need to have any elaborate filtration or fuel water separator setup between the aux tank and the generator. From what I...
