As of July/August of last year you still could.
If this is an Ohio agency, tell him to start here: http://das.ohio.gov/Divisions/GeneralServices/Surplus/FederalSurplusProperty.aspx
Have you tried adjusting the tension on your parking brake lever? Turn the top clockwise to tighten, counter to loosen. Don't overtighten.
The rocking on coming to a stop is normal on most of these trucks. Just part of the geared hub design. The new style geared hubs don't do that though.
No idea how common on these but I know thermostats can get stuck open or closed. If stuck closed you'll get overheating. If stuck open, on most gasoline vehicles you wouldn't really notice except for taking a little longer to get heat in the winter but, on diesels which can struggle to get up to...
HMMWVs do get stolen! Seen on the local news tonight...
Humvee Stolen From Ohio National Guard Armory In Stow
March 23, 2017
This photo shows the same model of Humvee that was stolen overnight Tuesday from an Ohio National Guard Armory in Stow, the state highway patrol said.
A Humvee was...
Mine usually takes a bit longer to get up to temp when it's cold but it will still get up to normal temp. The cooling fan will cycle as normal, just far less frequently.
Maybe you've got a thermostat stuck open?
Nice truck! I'll throw my $0.02 in...
This doesn't sound normal. As Postman said, if you're overvolting it could burn stuff out. Maybe a bad voltage regulator?
If it is, it may be worth replacing the entire alternator with one of the newer dual voltage ones which would help solve your question...
The part numbers for the cable and various other sundry hardware is in the TM. (I hope this went through, it's 37MB)
Page 1302 has the diagram and 1303 has the parts list.
I didn't ask Greg about the cable because I'm going to be running a non-standard setup and I may need something custom...
Let me check and see. I think I've got some pics of the install. If not I can go take some.
And yes, goes behind the air lift bumper in the space where either the pioneer kit or aux fuel tank would go.
Clutch lever control cable is to allow you to remotely disengage the winch clutch to free...
Can't sell it. The brackets are currently holding everything together on the rear. It is going to get a winch installed on it sometime this summer.
The diagrams and part listings are found in TM 9-2320-387-24P, page 1300 of 1953 of the PDF I've got.
The plate is part number 12447091...
Can't help precisely with your question but, I do know there is a specific winch plate made for the rear mounted electric winches. Needs a couple body brackets made for mounting it as well.
I got my setup from 86humv. No winch on mine yet but it is installed.
Interesting... I didn't know this was a thing and just looked it up (part 5716625 for anyone curious).
Is this style sender less susceptible to fuel tank sloshing than the float style? The bouncing fuel gauge when driving has been one of my pet peeves on my truck. Stupid, I know, but spending...
35 PSI is a good level to run the tires at.
My truck has 20 front, 25 rear decals on the fenders which matched what I saw in the TM. Was running my tires at that and the ride always felt a little sloppy.
Saw a post from RWH on here to run them at at least 35 for street use. Aired the fronts up...
What Lawdog said... If tire size is an issue, find a place that has a Hunter Road Force balancing machine.
I had the same issue when I got a new set of MTRs for my truck. I called about a dozen places that wouldn't do the tire because of size.
Finally found a shop that said they would and...
D**n, I about had a stroke seeing some of the prices in this thread!
Then I looked at the dates on the posts.
Not trying to be a d**k JaJohnson911 but I don't think a decade later, in the middle of the HMMWV parts feeding frenzy, there's going to be any $70 NOS deep fording exhausts...
That I can't say with 100% certainty but, since both engines are so similar, I'd think it does. The manufacturer, KipperTool, does not list engine specific kits, only vehicle platform and service level specific kits. My truck has a 6.2L too so I would definitely hope it does!
Yep, lots of different seal and bearing drivers for just about everything from geared hubs to diff pinions. I figured with a 20+ year old truck, I'm certainly going to have to replace more seals than the one front diff output seal (which I had to make my own seal installer for) I've done so far...
