    Deuce starting...and running problems

Is the in tank fuel pump, pumping? With the accessory switch on, and you open the bleed valve on the filters, does fuel gush out there? Sounds like the fuel transfer pump is not pumping. Just because you can hear it, doesn't mean its pumping. If its working, it will gush fuel at the filter...

    Tire flat!!

I don't believe moisture has much to do with flat tires. Back in the days when tubes were common, and we used to submerge tubes, to find leaks, half the tires were then assembled wet. A we just had to fix the tire, and it happened to be raining, so things were wet. We didn't know any better -...

    Changing a tire on a 5 ton

Clowns or not, bottle jacks can and do develope defects. They can leak internally, pick up some load, but not their rated load, but still feel like they are trying to work. A 12 ton jack is an all around size to have around equipment. They have a little better reach, and don't cost much more...

Need some ideas with a new problem..

Your missing something. 180*F is pretty hot. There is not that much stuff on the wheel end that can generate heat. Brakes dragging, wheel bearings (under some conditions), and in the knuckle, the U-joint cross, or the axle bushing.

New member buying M35a2 needs advice

Welcome to the site! The above is all good sound advice! Inspection is everything. That said, you can inspect your heart out, and once you get it home, and drive it a little, don't be surprised to find plenty of stuff to tinker with, upgrade, and or repair. Some things to consider though...

    water pump rebuild

Putting a re-build kit in the older pumps is not rocket science. I have done a 211, several times. It helps if you have a press, so your not pounding on the shaft. There will be a sequence that you need to follow, both on dismantling and on assembly. Be sure to follow that. Still today...

Oil, To change or not to change

Manufactures & Dealers look at oil & filters as a cash cow. Run it!

Can someone identify the pipe and the paint?

The bung in JBK's #7 post is stored right above the left most fuel filter. The stand pipes & hose, store in the tool box.

question about 9.00-20 deuce tires on rims

It depends on how much tread is on them. Take some pictures, and post them. Since the PO is probably reluctant to come out with any Flat Rate Boxes to accomodate them soon, it sort of depends on local pick up. Another possibility would be to take them to an MV Show/Swap Meet some place in...

Low air buzzer going off when turning the wheel

The same leak, is probably occurring, when the engine is running faster, but the compressor can better keep up with it then. The priority valve may be the problem too. Sometimes the valves can be just taken apart and cleaned. They get gummed up. Also I have found that its best to lube them...

    What size hone

Just a regular sized one. They pretty much expand to fit.

    Name that part!

My 211's have them. Much refined though, and mounted down in front of the tool box. They do not use a circ pump, but use thermo convection. They get hot enough to create a bubble of steam, which rapidly expands and forces the fluid up and away from the heater. The routing is first to the...

    1000 miles in a 923 -Flying in...advice?

Sure... This whole thing is about a TRIP. Lots of us have trips that we remember, and we even remember the ones where we had to camp beside the road and wait for parts. These trips are for the Natural Born Travler. These trips are ones that have a little flavor! Go for it!

    1000 miles in a 923 -Flying in...advice?

Several pairs of Crecent wrenches. 12's, 10, & 8". A short pry bar. A heavy tow strap & clevis. When you get to the NAPA, get & add a dose of snake oil (diesel treatment like Power Service) to the fuel. Xtra fuel filters. Proof of insurance! Good Luck

    tractor/trailer airbrake problems..

Offhand, sounds like faulty Tractor Protection Valve, on the tractor. What was the "blockage" you spoke of on trailer? What kind of brakes on the trailer - are they full air? Were the trailer brakes ever on? Did you have the Service side hooked to same/Emergency hooked to Emergency? That...

162tcat: Yes, chains, lockers, big tires, horsepower.... Non of it "fool proof". We all have to use discression & common sense, to get the best results.

    Anyone running a front locker?

The only thing better then one locker in the rear, is to have two back there. My semi highway tractor has two, and I am on ice 7 months of the year. The traction that I have is night and day difference, over non-locker vehicles. Its driveable during all seasons. Yes I know what your talking...

    Anyone repaired a radiator?

Regular solder is the proper way to fix it. For solder to hold it needs to be a lap joint that is properly cleaned & fluxed when the solder is applied. Depending on the type, and alloy of the particular solder, it melts around 550*F, + or - 100*F. Soldering on a radiator (about anywhere)...
