    M870A1 Recovery with Tru-Hitch

Actually, there have been several on GL lately. I also know of one in private hands for sale.

    M870A1 Recovery with Tru-Hitch

Oh yeah, you are right. I was too focused on the trailer needs. The truck has Goodyear MVT 395/85R20 tires. They are awesome. Wish I had several dozen more! BTW, that is your M871 trailer keeping the M870A1 company.

    M870A1 Recovery with Tru-Hitch

Yeah it looks like the gooseneck was sandblasted and replaced. There is not one inch of air line or wire for lights on the trailer. Tires are 11x15 or 11R15.

    M870A1 Recovery with Tru-Hitch

Thanks to a tip from local SSer Hoopsoft, I bought a rough M870A1 trailer from a guy less than 10 miles away from my shop. Last night, I fired up the M915A1 and Tru Hitch to go and recover it (in the dark). The trailer is in desperate need of some TLC. No kingpin, no decking, no brakes, no...

Can you post pictures of the neck modification? I might need to do something similar.

    M870 M870A1 Trailers

The trucks are a dime a dozen compared to the trailers (cheaper too!). Not the M983 though.....

    M870 M870A1 Trailers

In my search for a lowboy trailer, I have found/taken a few pics of the M870 and M870A1 trailers. I think my favorite is the M983 HEMTT and M870. The M916 with armored cab is a close 2nd.

    tow bar cucv to cucv

If you wouldn't trailer it, then I recommend you rethink towing it.

    Towing M915A1 Backwards with Truhitch

For transport, there are two legs that rotate down and sit on the ramps of the tractor. A chain is used in the rear to keep it from bouncing off (yes I have done that once). This is the best pic I could find of the Tru-Hitch in the transport position.

    M747 Manual Needed

I have never hooked a M747 to a M920, but I think that would be your best option. You might also consider a M916A1, as they seem to be readily available now too. With a military tractor, you are going to "slide under the radar" a lot easier! A M747 behind a civilian truck is going to look...

    Towing M915A1 Backwards with Truhitch

The Tru-Hitch fifth wheel towing device is a self-contained unit. It has two 12v hydraulic pumps and a 2 battery system. They are designed to work with virtually any military tractor (M818, M931, M915, M916A1, M920, M911, M983, M1070, etc) or any civilian tractor. There are interchangeable...

    Towing M915A1 Backwards with Truhitch

I can also vouch for towing M916A1 backwards at 70 mph. The M915A1 and Truhitch combo handled it with ease! These machines are about as slick as cow snot. :driver:
