Well I got the news from CALTRIC regarding my starter. They are sending me a replacement solenoid via Priority Mail. I put two new Group 31 batteries on. The battery tray is made to take them I found out. The battery is just a little longer than the top brace So I used a dremel on the plastic...
cmroles, My Blazer had a few layers of paint over the old stenciled in numbers. I used a sanding sponge from Harb. Frght.and took even strokes until it was exposed enough to read it.
Can the solenoid on a gear reduction starter be opened and serviced? I think I figured out what is the problem with my starter. The starter relay mod clicks. but the starter does not spin up on the vehicle. When I remove the starter and bridge the "S" bolt to the battery cable bolt with a...
gvaneck, uh oh.
I did not know about expanding foam not being an option here. I guess I assumed since it was used to seal up drafts it would be ok here. Maybe there is an alternative "space filler".
Thanks.
I think that looks great!
I wonder if you could: A) apply the fatmat. B) Shoot expanding foam in all the ribs. C) Shoot the whole thing with a few coats of undercoating to get a good result.
I gotta do something, and I just want to do it once so I get a lasting good out come. I have tried to...
I just finished putting in two group 31 batteries. Went to start it thinking that would end my starting problem... NO.
I have gone thru the TM manuals for troubleshooting the starter; but I think it must be the solenoid- the starter is new and under warranty; I'd rather put a solenoid in; but I...
I like the look of the 6TL battery; but I would rather drive than admire a dead battery. If there is no great replacement for a 6TL I am looking at options:
The Red Top Optima 34/78 has 800 CCA / 1000 CA is this enough? I don't have a winch or large electronics on-board.
Undercoating! Yep, I am going with that when the sun comes out again. I plan on shooting as much of the wheel wells as possible. May try to spray the inside of the hood .
I have some of the sound mat sheets to slip into the doors and on the inside firewall under the new mat I bought...
I like it. I'd start looking for one if I had a place to park it.
Maybe cause for another thread; but Q: Do you big truck owners simply collect these rigs or do you find they are good daily drivers? I am watching the cost of gas/diesel rising and am wondering about all the V8's in the driveway...
#%$^%@^! , I got in the Blazer, waited for the WAIT light. Cranked as it should but did not start. I tried again and on the second turn all I heard was CLICK.
Someone give me another troubleshoot I can try please. I, like you, need reliability and after laying on my back for a week to get it...
Paint! I take my rigs in the stix during hunting season. They squeeze down dirt roads that crowd in from both sides and discourage most after 5 or 10 yards. I keep going as the worst that happens is that I get branch marks in the paint. Sometimes the road opens up and I get into some nice back...
I have a suburban that does the same thing. It started about the time I noticed my dash lights and amperage lamp surging ever-so-slightly. Have your alternator(s) tested.
yes, the starter support bracket. If you don't have one, you need it. If it is loose, you need to remove/clean it and the block and replace it. I recommend adding the ground wire ND cleaning the existing grounding strap.
I am going to add a simple alarm that sounds when it senses a current drop- as when someone tries the handle.
Because I leave my truck in the sticks while I am out hunting, I usually add a battery ON/OFF knob to kill all power and keep from ending up with a dead battery in case of my negligence...
