    XM820 comes home

Uh-Oh! That sounds to me like permission to build a bigger garage!

Deuce bobbed w/ rear axle ?

Absolutely, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, but in this instance you're starting with a lot more in tires than you have in GVW. You'll loose a touch, but you're talking about perhaps ten or fifteen percent of the highway capacity.

Deuce bobbed w/ rear axle ?

RE: Err oopsie I'll agree. I could see just as much practical reasoning for doing this as for doing the bobs (albeit a quite different use), but I don't think it's very likely to happen to mine.

Deuce bobbed w/ rear axle ?

RE: Err oopsie I don't think it'd drop the payload any more than flipping the hubs and using single rear wheels, which apparently had very little impact on the payload. If it had a freightliner cab that's how you'd expect to find the wheels for a truck in this weight class. Now, if you get...

    CDL for M818

Your license autherizes you to drive specific vehicles. You can drive these vehicles anywhere in the 50 states. Federal law prevents states from failing to recognize another states license. For licensing only (not registration, tags, inspection, permits and such, but for LICENSING) if you can...

Word to the wise for vehciles that have been sitting! FIRE!!

RE: Word to the wise for vehciles that have been sitting! FI I'm afraid they're going to do the same to my F-150. They tried once, luckily all I got was a no-start and a melted battery that I didn't dare try to jump start. I just got done setting traps at the deuce, the Ford, and by the wood...

Word to the wise for vehciles that have been sitting! FIRE!!

RE: Word to the wise for vehciles that have been sitting! FI You did shoo them on their way didn't you Jeff? :D I found a batch in the air filter today, and another batch inside behind the drivers seat. The ones in the air filter got thrown into the woods with the nest and thereby a second...

    Oil Additives...

RE: Re: RE: Oil Additives... A couple of thoughts- Most of the big oil manufacturers do (or at least have at one time) have their own brand of shmutz to pour into the oil. They will absolutely not put their name on it however. The only way I've found to make the connection is to the...

    Oil change

Thanks all. The oil (this time around) is going to be carted to work for the furnace. by the next time around I'll be able to filter it adequately for burning. At least an adequate filter, maybe better depending on what leads do or don't pan out. I was unaware that Rotella was actually...

    Oil change

A couple of quick questions, as I believe that tomorrow will finally be an opportunity for me to tinker a bit with my oil and coolant leaks. First question- at a generous 1/8 inch, maybe 3/16 under the full mark on the dipstick (after sitting for some time) can I squeak all of the oil into a...

    Rear Axle interconnect???

That's my thought so far, with my limited knowledge of applications and various types. Removing the inter-axle driveshaft is the cheapest, but not convenient if you ever want all the wheels to drive, and also the walking suspension would tend to unload the front axle as forward torque is...

    Transmission Lifting Winch

I can see a little frustration, however I don't see where this auction is at all difficult to find, it searches very easily on ebay if you are looking for anything even remotely related. IMO anybody who wanted one already knew of the auction. Personally, I never knew there was such a thing, I...

    Rear Axle interconnect???

RE: 5 ton My eyes are wide. From this book, can you identify if it is a power divider (inter-axle differential) or if it is a disconnect unit to simply not drive the rear rear (like temporarily removing the interaxle driveshaft)?

    Rear Axle interconnect???

It's not so much an "axle interconnect" that you're looking for, that would be the little stubby driveshaft between the two rear axles. A power divider (a differential assembly that allows for the slight difference in rotation between the front rear and the rear rear) is not so much an added on...

Rebuilt 5 Ton Rockwell Axle For Sale. M939 with 644 Gears

The studs still have paint. I may be off, but wouldn't the flanges have been masked such that the paint would not interfere with proper mating of the driveshaft flange?

    M101 Trailer Title in Florida

If the vehicle (or trailer) is not supposed to be titled in Florida, then it is no trouble to get it titled in any other state that does require it should you decide to move to such a state, PROVIDED that you have had it registered in Florida in your name and have retained the documentation...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

Spicergear, I've never seen one of these plumbed with high pressure out of the hydro-max booster to the gear. I've always seen them either isolated, or in series of pump to gear, gear to booster, booster to tank. The pickups used to be in series, pump to booster, booster to gear, gear to...

    This can't be good...

RE: Re: RE: This can It's going to have to sit to the weekend at least. I just can't get home before dark. From the pictures I've seen it looks like all the dirt and grime would fall straight into a big gaping hole into the bowels of the engine. That'd be bad...

    This can't be good...

Re: RE: This can I'd think it's coming from where there should be oil because it continues to drip, yet there's zero evidence of it coming around the filter can. If you soak it up with a rag, more coolant actually emerges from that spot. But I think you guys are right. It's still dripping...

    This can't be good...

RE: This can Thinking further out loud, the filters have to come apart anyway... Do any of the spin on oil filter conversions go together with no perminant modifications to anything? I know at least one requires cutting the cans somehow... I'm interested but would rather not cut up anything...
