Ok,got my new seals today,pulled the hub to get`r done.I found two areas of concern. 1 the inner race has some slight abraisions in two spots.just enough to feel with fingernail.they run accros the race maybe 3\8".replace race and bearing? 2 the wheel cylinder actuator? the part that contacts...
I thought about soaking or cleaning them ,but I was concerned about the integrity of the friction material. It's more like black tar than axle lube.But then it is qiute cool here.

I don't think using the dot3 will harm anything.just make shure you buy the right hone size,and don't use too much spring pressure.you want to polish ,not bore.as Stretch said be shure to keep the hone well lubed and keep it moving up and down.

I have only seen two types of beds on these trucks,the removable side, flat bed with big roller in rear and the type I have ,with the big lift arm and hydraulic winch with rollers on sides.are you talking about the ladder?If you are ,I could try and post some pics of it.this is the one...
Along with the electrical checks ,you might want to check the hoses.sometimes they get soft and will collapse causing a restriction in the cooling cuircit.get her hot, pop the hood and run up the rpm's.hold it at crusing rpm and watch the hose's.don't forget when you refill the coolant to use...
