Normal For M1009 To Smoke Under Load?

Welcome aboard bud, hope you enjoy your truck and the forum. I am not familiar with the procedure but if you look at the Technical Manual ending in -34, mechanical troubleshooting section number 19, Excessive Black Smoke and step one is to check timing. They reference a paragraph for...

    84 CUCV Not starting

Welcome aboard from MD. Yep, that's the ignition switch. Did you install it backwards by chance? You can usually get the correct part for your vehicle by searching for parts for a 1983 k5 or k30, depending what variant of CUCV you have. Are you familiar with the Technical Manuals available...

A little help with TM's on electrical diagram

Check out the CUCV Color Wiring Diagrams found in the CUCV helpful threads. I have found that opening the diagram in paint and erasing the extra wires is helpful. For wiring diagrams in the TM-20 look for appendix F and in the TM-34 look for appendix E.

    Drivers side alternator belt. Opinions?

Currently I have a Dayco 57515 belt there. It cross references to Gates 7575 according to their website. I have found different sized pulleys used on PS pumps, making it hard to have one "correct" size belt. Maybe the same thing occurs with alternator pulleys? Taking it to the store and...

    HMMWV Arrived

FWIW, when something similar happened to me, I was able to solve it by removing the injector and fishing out the glow plug tip through the injector orifice. It did require some hammering to get the offending tip into the pre-combustion chamber and to then be able to be pulled out. I used a...

M1101 and m1102 license plate home made bracket

Great solution Sgthawk, thanks for sharing. I also copied your idea with a few pieces from the scrap pile and added a light. To power the light, I followed Warthog's suggestion here and I got some 14 gauge rubber connectors and a Y splitter to tap into the #21 wire that feeds one of the lights...

    Just bought a M1009

Greetings NVMessner, IMHO for $5500 there seems to be an awful lot of yellow crimp on connectors on the engine wiring harness. With him having to jump it, there may be a can of electrical gremlins hiding, added to the mechanical issues you mentioned. I may be mistaken and its a great rig, but I...
