Ok, ok...pictures are coming. I'm working 10-12 hour days right now and it's difficult to get out and take pictures. Give an MV owner a little slack!
By the way, this camper is for sale.
Why don't you just run new wires for all of your lights, tape them together and create your own harness? I do this on just about every trailer I put on the road. This way, I know how it is wired and that the wires are new. I just go to Home Depot and buy a spool of 12 gauge wire and a bunch...
Ok...this may be a dumb question but my Mite doesn't have any brake lights. I checked for a switch near the brake pedal linkage but didn't see anything. Did they come with brake lights? Is there a switch that I can get so I can have brake lights?
I do have turn signals which are 12 volt and...
Morris,
Great to see you here!
Does anyone know where I can get amilitary gas fired heater, similar to the ones used in Volkwagens? Something small enough to fit in the Mite?
Thanks!
I just placed my Arctic top on my Mighty Mite since I am doing a frame off restoration on my M38A1. It's almost a perfect fit! It's about 1.5-2" too long so I will have to make some adapter brackets to close the gap. Winters get cold here so having a top, doors, and heat would be nice. It...
Winters get pretty cold and snowy here. Even without the snow, I want to take the Mite out on the dirt roads so having a top, doors, and a heater will be nice. Besides, the M38A1 is going in the garage for a frame off restoration.
I took my M38A1 Arctic top and put it on my Mighty Mite. It's not a perfect fit since it is about two inches too long. It will fit well if I tilt the windshield to a vertical position. However, with the windshield vertical, there is a 1" gap in between the windshield and the top. I'll most...
I bought my first military vehicle, a 1987 Unimog in 2002. Since then, I've owned seven more vehicles and twelve trailers. I never expected to get hooked like this! I love this addiction!
Good luck with your deuce and start making appointments with your psychiatrist. Unfortunately, there...
Pete,
Your top looks like an aftermarket item. The military tops did not have a rear hinged door. Instead, it was a solid back with a hole for the heater exhaust. The side doors were made of plywood. I bought a 1953 M38A1 that was rotting away in NJ for $150. I only wanted the top so I...
Rather than checking the float, I am just going to rebuild the carb. Carbs are easy to rebuild, no reason to mess with making little adjustments on something when I can just do the whole thing.
I had one of these (without the truck) and was going to use it as a shop. Unfortunately, it was too freaking heavy to haul from NJ to my home in NV. So, I parked it at my friend's farm and used it for storage. It was great to put all of my Jeep and mv parts in. I finally went back home to NV...
I just registered my Mite today!!! I took it out for a drive and occasionally, the engine floods and is tough to start. I have an inline fuel filter which does not have much fuel in it. Besides rebuilding the carb, I was thinking of replacing the fuel pump. Any suggestions?
Also, my Mite...
I have a military trailer for sale. It was an M117 6 ton trailer. I converted it to a bumper pulled trailer and have used it quite a bit. I sold my Unimog and don't have anything to haul it with. So...first $2750 takes it! The deck is 28' long including the 5' beaver tail. I don't think it...
On the inside of most Unimog radio boxes, there is a dome light that is enclosed in a metal cage. I'm not sure if they are waterproof but they make for a decent overhead light. They come in white and blue lenses.
Interesting topic...
I just passed through Central Arkansas and stopped at a local deli/gas station. I saw the chickie sticks but opted for the chicken chimichangas. They were actually pretty good.
Just my 2 cents.
