So... On a more serious note, I was wondering...
I did read in this thread mention of the member that made his own kit, I have not searched yet to find it to see how much discussion of the theory and application there was and if it covers any other models other than the one he was working...
Gee and all without mention of Harry Potter, imagine that.....
DH: If you have lived in the same place for more than a week, your neighbors no longer wonder about you.... They Know.... I'm just glad whoever took the picture was not taller to have gotten a "Better" angle on you.... Some things...
Several people have asked about the wheelbase. It looks like the bed has not been moved or altered (Shortened/lengthened) from it's stock length/location.
When you measure the wheelbase of a tandem truck, the proper way to do it is from the center of the front axle to the center BETWEEN the...
I had read one thread about a M109 camper conversion and that OP mentioned a couple times the metal cover or liner or something like that on the bottom of the box. This had led me to believe that there was a sheet metal cover over the underside of the box that enclosed the ribs/joists (Whatever...
Cool, good to know!
When stuck, backwards is almost always easier than "More stuck"...lol (Not always of course, but usually)
Isn't the 20k winch on the 900 ( M925/928 ) series hydraulic? How do you go about converting from PTO to hyd? I know you need a hyd motor but what motor is the...
OK, if I understand this correctly, the M920 is a fixed displacement system. Is this because the winch does not actually “use” fluid, (meaning like a ram would “use” or temporarily store fluid to extend the ram and then return it to the system when the ram retracts). (More about ram usage below)...
Did the a3 in the video have locker or open diffs?
I see your playing in the yard (more or less) but what if you needed to get somewhere as in miles away - Say 20 miles for sake of argument? On unplowed roads. Can a vehicle such as this, with singles aired down, chains and lockers...
Why would he have trouble getting back into the states?
Thanks for posting those links. First time I have seen that truck. I really like that spare carrier. I might do something like that for my spare.
I know I did not make the original post/question about the hyd system but your answer give me more info that I could possibly get from reading the book and it leads me to a couple new questions. Both the OP and myself are working on very similar projects with very similar designs in mind so my...
Hey, good to hear form you, have not seen you on the board for awhile. Your 100% correct, it is all a compromise.
It seems people just can not understand MY MISSION for this vehicle. I am not designing something to go into the deep dark rain forests or up into the hills of Moab.
I keep...
Thanks for the links!
The 2012 MVPA think looks interesting although they are planning a pretty slow pace and they are only starting in Canada and only going to Anchorage and Fairbanks. If I leave Florida and drive to Alaska, I'm going ALL the way to the end of the Dalton to Prudhoe Bay. I...
Well they do say that the Dalton is much better to drive in the winter than in the warmer times. I'll have a heater...lol... Maybe April?
Lets see it there is any interest in such an expedition and see what your schedule looks like and make a new post/thread and see what we can get going????
I agree. A MV convoy to some remote AK village (Like Prudhoe Bay) would be cool. However.... I'll need a few days to actually build my MV before we get rolling.
But... we could start planning something for say Feb-March 2013. That would give people plenty of time to start getting ready...
According to the book: Curb weight M920 = 30,270lbs. (15 tons) But, yeah, always better to be high than low when calculating such things. This is why I am contemplating using the 45k winch on the back, (And MAYBE one on the front as well) because I'll have at least another 20k lbs on top of the...
You know, instantly as I read your response I remembered all of that same stuff...lol...
I had completely forgotten about the underneath airflow issue. This is why the new "Anteater" trucks all have fairings that go pretty close to the ground and extend all the ay down the sides of the...
You do now! Check your email... :)
Unless I am seriously mistaken.... The hydraulic pump is located on the transmission. The manuals you now have will tell you how to activate the pump.
You can remove the winch and winch controls and still maintain the pump. I'm not positive on the exact way...
I am guessing that your probably right about that.

Not to hi-jack this thread but we have pretty much answered the primary question (Except where to get the parts) please allow me to expand my general knowledge.... (And maybe a question others might have as well?)
So, here is a totally...
LOL.... you WILL see me there once the rig is done... This is EXACTLY one of the many places I had in mind in designing this thing.... That grass sure LOOKS innocent enough doesn't it??
