Dumb question - selling my CUCV to a Canadian - legal?

I think I read that in order to export a military vehicle, you need to purchase an export license. I believe these licenses cost about three grand. And even then, you're still limited to whom you can export.

what are the requierments to classify my deuce as a farm truck?

Only drawback is he could get busted for hauling stuff to/from his farm with it. So he'd need to invest in a cargo top and bows...

what are the requierments to classify my deuce as a farm truck?

Farmers around here register their F-350s as farm trucks all the time, so I can't imagine why a stock deuce wouldn't qualify. What do you plan to do with your deuce?

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

someone else mentioned just getting temporary tags any time I want to move it. In your research, did you happen to see if a temporary tagged vehicle needed to be DOT and TXDOT registered in order to be kosher on the road? Also, can you confirm what NDT was saying about minimum of 750k...

    Questions, 5-ton, TX-Specific

Ok, in doing a little more research on the "machinery" registration... I don't know if it would fly. From the txdps website: I would think that part right there would disqualify a wrecker, as it is designed to transport property, even though my actual use for it would be more like as a crane...

Have you got Mr. Who's phone number on hand?

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

Thanks for the links. The only information about a DOT insurance requirement was from NDT, again... but he gave a different number that time and no link to a statute. So sorry these questions are offensive to you. I could just put a small crane on a deuce bed... but it wouldn't be a giant...

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

The M108 is the deuce and a half crane assembly. I believe they reinforced the deuce frame quite a bit to handle the crane and 8k pounds or so of lift capacity. I'm not interested in hooking up to and toting other people's stuff. But I'd like to be able to at least drive it on the road a...

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

According to: OP-CR53 Austin Western Manual The M108 crane weighs 9000 pounds. It also references a 5 ton crane but I think they're referring to an earlier one. M62 Which other manuals should I be looking at?

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

well, this begs the question... is the crane/winch assembly from a M-108 wrecker different from that of an M-816 wrecker?

Cool, thanks! How about insurance? Does "machinery" require $750k commercial liability insurance?

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

I still don't know what the actual facts are regarding insurance. some people are telling me you have to have a commercial policy of $750k liability regardless of how it's used. Others tell me, no, that's just if you drive it for commercial purposes on a regular CDL. 75% of my frustration...

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

That's the thing. The license is not what's bugging me. If nothing else, I'll do the personal use ag exemption and just get a class B Non-CDL. I really don't want to get a Texas CDL because if I ever get a ticket, even driving my Chrysler, I will be UNELIGIBLE to take defensive driving to get...

5 ton wrecker crane and winch in a deuce?

I know this sounds crazy, but has anyone ever swapped an 816 wrecker bed, with crane and winch, onto a deuce? Is it even doable? How hard would it be? How much does all that stuff weigh? Would it make the deuce overly top heavy? Would the deuce even be able to handle the weight and still...

    Questions, 5-ton, TX-Specific

Not to gravedig, but I haven't found a better place to ask this: Are you sure about this? I was under the impression that both insurance and inspection requirements were waived with a FMV registration... or is this a special insurance requirement that isn't affected by FMV exemption? I just...
