    802a Thermostatic Switch

Okay guys, thanks to Guyfang's information, Index sensors and control Inc. still makes the switch. Phone number is 1-800-726-1737, part number is 8037122. Cost is $53.30 plus shipping. Thank you again Guyfang! I searched a lot last night and several places quoted $396 for it. Green Mountain had...

    802a Thermostatic Switch

That is the actual sending unit for the gauge. I need the one that is located directly below with 2 wire hookup. I'm having a unit that is shutting down, with a fault indicator of high temperature. Just starting the unit from cold, shuts it down but I can unhook one of the wires off the...

    802a Thermostatic Switch

Does anyone have a source for the Thermostatic Switch on the 802a or 803a. It's the switch that senses when the coolant is to hot and shuts the unit down. Part number in the manual is 88-22203 and NSN 5930-01-0378-6882. I can't find any cross references to that particular part.

    MEP016a problem

Check the plug at the actuator. Sometimes they come loose, also check and see if you are getting zero volts when the switch is in the off position. Really simple machines, if you didn't know, you can flip the top of the gauge cover up and have full access to the electronics. Makes life a lot easier.

First power outage with the MEP803A

rhurey, I was about to send the same link. Well worth the $30 and easy to install. Runs off a 9V battery and you turn it on when the lights go out, then when grid power is restored it has a siren, to let you know.

    Mep-002a resurrected... mostly

Cylinder 1 is closet to the blower. If I remember correctly the valve that is on the outside right, closet to the blower, is the exhaust port. The rocker that is longer is the exhaust. When rotating the motor over by hand, wait until you see the intake valve close, then look at the flywheel unit...

My 803 seems to dislike the cold

Just FYI, if you find your batteries draining for no reason, look at rebuilding your alternator. I just had 2 units where the batteries were new and would run down after 3-4 days. The diodes in the alternator shorted discharging the batteries.

    Generator - Can you Identify?

Interesting, do you see a data plate on the side of the generator head? It would be on the side where the oil filter is located on the motor. It can't be mush more than a 6-7kw because the 2 cylinder won't be able to handle much more. I bet it doesn't have many hours on it, the oil filter is...

    New member and a new-to-me MEP-803a

I would recommend breaking your unit in a little more before slapping the big load on it. Just because you want to make sure the engine is broke in before applying such a big load. On an engine with 200+ hours no problem but with one that has just been rebuilt, you want to make sure everything...

    MEP003 with Governor/Throttle/Fuel Solenoid Issues

Like every else has said, try some fuel cleaner or lacquer cleaner in the tank. If the linkage is hard to move, then varnish may have built up on the plunger causing friction. That's very unusual to have the helper springs on the throttle as pictured. Sometimes the linkage that goes from the...

    Five MEP-802a Projects

The 802a's are not an easy generator to work on for a beginner, so good luck. I got a couple of 802a's out of the same auction, unfortunately one had a grounding incident which caused the ground wire from the main lug to fry and ruin a bunch or wires in the control cubicle behind the gauges.

    MEP-804A won't stay running

Oil pressure switch, are you getting any fault indicators? I mean, we can all guess at different things. Is the fuel cut solenoid being activated when it shuts down or does it sound like it's starving for fuel?

    Mep003a :r standard muffler question

I've bought several 003a's from the military that had different mufflers installed and nothing really helped. It's mostly mechanical noise.

    Mep016d voltage. Please help

LO is neutral. You should get 120 from L0 to L1. If the reconnection switch is positioned correctly.

    Mep016d voltage. Please help

Was it raining or just finish raining when you started it? The voltage regulators are real sensitive in my experiences and after they dry, voltage returns to normal.

Mep-002a Start but runs rough when load applied.

How old is the fuel? I had a customer who bought a genset from me and left fuel in the tank for 2yrs. It started fine and he hooked it to his house and it died under load. Finally figured out that algae started growing in the tank. After he cleaned the tank, changed the filters, and put fresh...

Mep-002a Start but runs rough when load applied.

It looks and sounds like its starving for fuel. The governor has it at full throttle and it's still stalling. I would make sure your filters and tank are clean first. You could have trash in the tank that is getting sucked onto the dip tube, clogging the flow of fuel. Then move to the check...
