If anyone needs trailer lessons contact M813A1. On Monday, I saw him back a M198 dolly and M871 flatbed about 100 yards uphil on a curvy road. Not a task for amateurs!
We pulled the six trailers offsite and paid a commercial outfit to load them.
There was equipment everywhere on site and I even spotted a forklift ramp/truck dock that we might have been able to use to winch them on. It was similar to being adrift at sea and not having any water to drink. :-D
Lastly, here are some pics of some of the other "stuff" parked along the miles of back roads there. I'll be keeping a watchful eye for some of this stuff.
10 random thoughts from the trip:
1. Friends like Dave and Lindsey are hard to come by.
2. 14.00R20 tires are too much tire for M813 with a load
3. 395/85R20 tires are perfect for M818
4. GL personnel at Hooks are super nice, but...
5. When they say "buyer load" there, they mean it.

Well, the trip has been made and the recovery is complete! We picked up 2 M871 flatbeds and 4 M105A3 trailers. Thanks to Dave (M813A1) and Lindsey (Broman78) for being the champions to pull it off.
Towing a vehicle is much different than pulling a trailer. There is no payload on the towing vehicle (unless you have a wrecker and do a lift tow). Once I towed a M818 with another M818 and the towed tractor almost put me in the ditch on a turn. An eye opening experience to say the least...
Yeah, this is a dreaded project. These are going on wildland fire trucks. Having an deadlined truck due to tire failure can lead to big problems in wildfire environment. Not as bad as being shot at, but chaotic and dangerous nonetheless. Beadlocks help, but runflats might be even better.
I have some 20" runflat beadlocks I want to install in 16R20 tires. Has anyone ever done this? It looks a little imtimidating and reverse childberth comes to mind. :-(
Does anyone know if Red River Army Depot, Oklahoma National Guard, Fort Riley, or Fort Sill handle these types of...
