I've done my duty and searched the forums and have only learned the A3 has an Allison, some Google-ing reveals it's an Allison 1545... Now, that's a 4 speed with a 1:1 top gear (industrialautomatic.com), in fact I have one in an International bus behind a 9.0 that's going to be parted out. How...
Some of you may have seen my earlier posts about potential swaps, Cummins V555, etc but I decided to go the easy way and replace the bad Multi with a good Multi. Problem is, that 'good engine' also had a bad bottom end (oil pump idler-gear shaft had BROKEN) so I was out of luck again and WAY...
There's a Dodge type aircraft tow tractor on GL about 50 miles from me, that's almost next door in GL terms, and I'm sick of bad multifuels (just bought and swaped in a 'good engine' that has a bad bottom end!) but that's another story...
Does anyone know what kind of transmission is in these...

Well, tonight I finally got around to pulling the engine for replacement and found that the 6000 mile truck has what looks like an 80,000 mile clutch on it, not much left to the 'pucks' and the four finger pressure plate is pretty worn, mabye even 3/32 gone where the clutch ran... So much for...
I've finally got my replacement engine a few weeks back and now have arranged some time over the holidays to perform the swap...
Can those with experience make some suggestions to make the process easier?
I'll be working in my farm shop with comcrete floors (a blessing!), good lighting...
I'm a newbie to modifications and need some input... I have a nice 'spare' duece with a bad engine (looks like the bottom end wasn't torqued and basically fell apart in 2,500 miles!) that I'd like to play around with since my other has a dump body and is a work vehicle...
I have a sweet V555...
