Lonesome715, I have a '71 AM Gen M35A2 and called about 18 different insurance agencies before finally going with Gulfway. It seems to be VERY state specific on who will or can cover what.
All the agencies that came recommended on similar threads wouldn't even touch my truck in Florida...
MitchG, thank you for the offer. I'll put your name in my trip book for installment two of "The Deuce recovery '10" saga. Hopefully, I won't need it.
Viper360, Thank you for the weather input. I thought to give you a call when I was on the side of the road but my step-father was already...
Jay, I can't say enough about how awesome you and Rob are, seriously, if you ever need anything I can help you out with you have but to ask. As for the flight Monday, looks like I got bumped to Tuesday and I think Thursday night I have a night flight so I should be bright eyed and bushy-tailed...
Wow, where to begin?
Hang with me this might be a long post...
First of all, Rob and Jay (bulldog_mac13) are the super-heros of this story. Two guys who I've never met dropped what they were doing and offered to drive almost 3 hours away to help a TOTAL stranger trapped on the side of...
Thanks guys,
JWaller, I'll keep your number handy. Hopefully I won't miss my exit on the way back. I've only driven across the country about 15 times so the directions aren't what I'm worried about. Mechanical hob-gobblins on the other hand.... Well, fingers crossed.
Since I'm flying up...
Hello Everyone,
Well, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel. My October win from auction 4737 is almost ready to come home. I had it moved over to Eastern Surplus in Philadelphia to get inspected/upgraded and painted and I will be hopefully going to pick it up this coming Friday...
Hello everyone. I stopped by Ft Eustis' transportation museum here a couple months ago and really enjoyed the tour of all the historic (if not slightly bizzare) transportation stuff they had on display there. Towards the end of the tour we went outside to ogle all of the larger vehicles and...
Divemaster,
Any chance at a post-view? I bought an M105 trailer two weeks ago event 4856 lot number 5888 and it would be nice to know if it is in as good condition as it seemed in the GL pics.
If its a pain, don't worry about it, but if you see a row of 105's and you have a second I would...
The truck looks great.
If you don't mind my asking where did you get the M66 mount at, or did it come with the truck? I've been looking for one but the only place I can find that has them is BMGparts and their price is a bit, well princely for me..... Any leads on where they might be...
Congrats! On a completely unrelated note, does your wife have a sister?
I told my wife that I was going to buy an M35A2 and the best she could muster was "if anyone's eccentric enough to pull it off its you"...... Though she may come around once she drives it....
It sounds as though...
Cool, good to know mine isn't the last one. Mine is about 2/3 the way down from the hill. (from the vantage point of your picture it would have been behind you.
Mine was a hard-top W/W, no cover over the back. When I stopped by and climbed under it someone had disconnected my drive-line...
Jhuey,
I also bought a Frankfort truck (my first), auction 4737. Which auction or date did you get your truck from? Also, how many M35A2's were still up there?
I drove through in November and I counted 80 of them sitting there, just wondering if my truck is all alone there wiating for me to...
Hello,
I recently transferred to Jacksonville, Florida and am looking for an outgoing Deuce owner who wouldn't mind sitting down with me and giving me some pointers as a (hopefully) soon-to-be new M35A2 owner. I was fortunate enough to get a sampling of what Deuces are all about before I...
800summit,
I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage since I'm in Florida and my dad (with a POA) will actually be doing the registration for me in Ketchikan. I've actually read all the Alaskan Code (section 28 I believe) on vehicel registration and technically the 10,000 max weight even applies to...
Grizcty,
Wow, that sounds very strange.... GVWR 43910 for a Deuce and a half seems WAY too heavy. With a list weight like that the CDL requirement would make sense, since it would be over the 26,000lb limit...
The DOT inspection sounds like it might be a problem for me since I'm in...
Thank you for the replys
Elk Hunter, copy all, sounds like you have a great truck. Thanks for the reply.
Rosco, I had momentarily thought of just putting something under 10k on the registration but the problem with that is (aside from the ethical considerations) since I'm stationed down...
Hello Everyone,
I'm a SS newbie. Like a lot of people I won an auction (Oct 8th) for one of the M35A2's now held up by the DRMS hold. Mine's in Frankfort (along with exactly 80 other ones as of last Saturday when I drove through).
I'm on Active duty in the US Navy recently PCS'ed to...
Possible mistaken Serno
CARNAC,
Thank you for the look-up. I just sent a donation as requested. One more question though, GL has the truck listed as an American General (manf code 81349 on the invoice) but the manufacture code you listed below is for Jeep. When I looked on the driver's side...
Seeking M35A2 info
CARNAC,
I was hoping to see if you could dredge up the salient details of the M35A2 I have waiting for my EUC and this hold deal to clear. The details are
VIN 053913689
Unsure of registration number
NSN 2320000771617
Bought (and currently still at): Frankfort Ky
