    Finally got it!

I know a lot of insurance companies will not insure vehicles over 1ton. I wonder if you were to get in an accident, if they would be inclined not to cover you, since they don't insure vehicles >1ton? I know my insurance company for the car (Ameriprise) wouldn't insure the deuce, I went with...

Axle seal fixed, encouraged to do other things & ?????'s

Todd I was just looking at your truck and I noticed that our trucks are from the same unit! 81BDE 181SPT, my truck came from Bravo Co, yours looks like Alpha Co. I know Bravo Co is out of Yakima, not sure about Alpha. Thats funny, we even picked them up on the same day ;p. The 818 on GL right...

Hello, If anyone is heading to Ft. Lewis before this Thursday (6/5) and has time to inspect a couple trucks, PM me. Thanks, Caleb

    Tapping noise

I have had a tapping/nocking noise on the M1009 I used to have. It got progressively worse over a couple minute period, and then I just stopped it and had it towed. Long story short, the rod that the rockers rock on is held in by a bolt at each end. Mine was loose on one end, and caused noise...

    My delima

Gravel: Your just up the way from me, I'm down on Lopez Island. I would go for the airshift, for the reasons FT mentioned. Sprags are usually worn out, and need repair, and engage when its too late. Not sure if your going offroad much, but its nice to have the option. The advantage to the 67 is...

    M135 Parts Truck

Update: I'm just about to finish the school year and head home. I can take more pictures if someone wants something specific (give me about a week). The plan is as soon as I get the SF-97 for my M35A2, and its on the road, the M135 will be cut up and hauled off for scrap. If I can find a buyer...

    Experimental Deuce?

Very cool truck, but not sure about 12k cool. An A3 (with winch, IIRC) went for less than that a month or so ago at Ft. Lewis.

    How long for first EUC

Anywhere from a week to 90+ days. You'll know when your invoiced. First time EUC's apparantly take longer than subsequent ones. There are a few threads in this section with stories of varying return times. Hope it returns at a good time for you.

best kind of batteries to use?

I used the Interstate 31P-MHD in the 2 M1009's I have had. Worked great during the 3 years I used them.

    what is this turbo worth?

Looks like a -1C, which I wouldn't mind on my truck for a little added "effect" ;)

What to look for when buying

I would take a gander at the archives. There is more than enough information talking about recoveries, what to look for, etc. Once you read about someones problem, and what caused it, you will have a good idea of what to watch out for. Its also helpful to know how to fix problems when they come...

    Emergency shutdown

I've had the throttle spring go. I would keep a spare around, they rust and break pretty easily. I was able to pull it back with my toe next to/under the accelerator, and make a field repair.

    Recovery advice

I would borrow, beg or steal a towbar. Or have a company tow/haul it for those 5 miles. I would avoid the tow strap. Not sure on the brakes, but I don't think they work so well without air pressure. Bring everything possible that you might need to get it running. Full filter set, fresh diesel...

    Calling Medlog

I just picked up my first M35A2 at Ft. Lewis earlier this week. The bumpers have the following on them: Passenger side: 81BDE 181SRT Drivers side: B1204. From what I can figure its 81st Brigade, 181st Brigade Support Battalion, Bravo company vehicle 1204. Bravo company looks to be based out of...

    6x6 performance upgrade question

I think I have seen pinion brakes on the rockwell axles. Can those be added to a deuce with the stock brake system? Seems like if you did one on the rear most axle and the front it would help a bit.

    Ft. Lewis M35A2 recovery

We got up at 0600 this morning and caught the ferry back to the mainland. We made it safely back to Moscow at around 1400. This is not my first deuce. I had a M211 a few years back, but since I got it 3 miles from my house, not much of a recovery mission ;). This is my first M35A2. I knew it was...

    Ft. Lewis M35A2 recovery

Monday: We left Moscow at 1545 with one loaded Crown Vic, and made it to Olympia at 2200. We hit some pretty heavy snow on Snoqualmie pass; the road was wet with some slush. It made for a bit of miserable driving. After we got off the pass it was heavy rain for most of the trip, it cleared up...
