Going to have to roll that axle out from under the truck. Once out, pretty easy to pull apart. If it's BER, roll a take out axle in. Rockwell axles are easily fixed, lots of parts available.
Is this the first diesel powered vehicle for the OP? His nose may be the only thing out of calibration. The burning eyes comment tends to lndicate the engine is burning coolant. Check the coolant levels and monitor any usage of coolant.
Old diesels smell like victory in the morning....
Welcome from across the river, lots of good MV folks in Ohio. When it's time for an oil filter change , let me know. I stock the spin on filter adapter/ filter kit. A must for future oil changes. Have fun.

Start under the truck, at the selector valve. Are you certain the PTO is engaged? Hydraulic pump turning? Be very careful under the truck. Disconnect the selector cable from the valve, lube, clean, adjust if needed.
Work selector valve manually. Have somebody with you for security.
Fuel Filters, start there. If you haven't changed the air filter in 5 yrs. I bet the fuel filters are older. -and don't run it above 20,000RPM (must be a turbine engine, cool)
Crawl under the truck and follow the selector cable to the selector valve, lube an adjustment most likely needed. Disconnect the cable and lube it also. Operate the winch from the selector valve to trouble shoot. Have a "soldier B" w/ you for over watch.
The photo in my avatar was the drivers door of a M813 w/w I bought for parts. Didn't start because there were no batteries in the box, "no brake" meant that the parking brake cable was broke.
Installed batteries and drove it 150 miles home. It's still a parts truck today, all its part are still...
I have the same truck. Check all the engine fluids, lights, and ensure the air system (primary/secondary) stay pressurized
and recover after braking. Test the brakes a lot before rolling home. Fill the tank with fresh diesel, add Power Service Diesel Klean. Drain water separator in left front...
Looks like the truck was "robbed" of several of it's electrical components. Behind the right side dash are the ECUs for the engine, transmission, relay banks. Hopefully the units robbed were unplugged and not cut out.
It will take a little time to round up what is missing and get it started...
GL has a funny way of listing the taxes. Once you get the invoices it will be straight. I have seen this "over taxed" issue on a lot of invoice. It will be straight in the end. Wish I was close ,I'd take one off your hands.
