Good day everyone! I just wanted to throw this out there as clarification before I ask my question. I checked around the forum, as well as other sites if anyone has done what I want to work on, and there is little to no information out there on the matter. I want to put a roof rack on my M1009...
On the banks kit, I took a hard look at the installation manual and it says nothing about the timing as was mentioned before. From what I understand, you will have to turn up the fuel delivery a little (1/4 turn) after the install and you should be golden. An EGT will be necessary to make sure...
I use my truck for all sorts of expeditions. I travel to Colorado a couple times a year and head to black bear pass as I have old friends from the state. The truck is used in more places than just NJ.
Hey all! I have been extensively reading on about all the experiences people have had with a BANKS turbo kit on their 6.2's. Sounds like generally I have read that the kit will indeed give your truck a bit of a boost (pun intended) and it more or less does a pretty good job at it too. I am...
The rears were in Nice shape actually, and I took some time to adjust the brakes with care and precision. I have a lot of experience with these adjustments so I decided to take the time to do it right. All clean, absolutely no oil on any of the brakes for sure. The light has always been...
Hey all, I looks like there has been a little bit of a situation. So I decided to do a little aggressive brake tests and I find that the rear locks up before the front, which makes me feel like I have reduced brake power compared to in the past. Also the parking brake indicator light stopped...
Wow blueblaze, this is awesome, and I am definitely looking into this. I tried finding some specs on the wattage of the heater and whatnot. I guess what I am wondering most though is if you altered the connector to weather pack both on the filter AND on the truck? And please excuse my ignorance...
Okay awesome, so the CUCV supplies 12V to the heater, so I will purchase the 12V heater. Will 150W trip something? Or can it handle that kind of load? I will just get it all new, figure I may as well just go all out on this project. Skinny, did you get a water sensor or opt for the glass bowl?
Hey all, just thought I would take a chance to gain some knowledge on these spin on fuel filters. I read the posts here on the matter since months ago, and I think my M1009 is finally due for one since the leaks are getting significant. I see a lot of folks that will use a simple NAPA spin on...
what was amazing was after cleaning off the surface with denatured alcohol, I found the original bottom enamel was perfect. And I mean completely perfect. The gunky mess was the Rust-Oleum that I used over top of that layer! So I cleaned her up and have her a fresh coat of paint! Good as new!
Well, the brakes have been flushed, and I replaced the fluid properly, and now I got a rock hard pedal, which is awesome! However, a friend of mine accidentally spilled brake fluid (dot 3+4) on the frame and by the time I noticed all the paint has gunked up and is just melting off. I am guessing...
Okay I'll be sure to do that. I'll vacuum the lines and everything to make sure as much of it is as removed as possible. The guys over at summit have been telling me to spray brake cleaner in the lines and then blasting it out with compressed air. Only reason why I was a stickler was because I...
Alright everyone, I am ready to do the job tomorrow, and I have a mightyvac, new calipers, new wheel cylinders, and MC. I have one final question for all of you. I have heard on a lot of forums out there about the use of denatured alcohol to clean the inside of the brake lines and then using low...
One last question for you guys, since I am essentially going to do an overhaul (and do it right at that) I want to know if you could choose, would you go with dot3 after the overhaul, or stick with dot5? I will use this truck as a daily, and I live in the northeast, so moisture varies quite a...
Yeah, at this point I am going to overhaul the entire brake system, hopefully not the lines if they are still any good. But here is the thing, I'm in a moral debate on if I want to use DOT3 or DOT5 since they both have pros and cons. It's a daily driver, and I want it to hold up to the test of...
I probably will do a rebuild on all the brakes and do it right, no worries there, although for some reasons the shops I call don't seem to care much haha. I want to pick up the civvy version of the master since it seems to be a perfect fit (K5 Model, not K30) since it has the larger reservoir up...
Well, here is the thing though, the brakes hold at first, but it does start to fall and sink given enough time (like 15 seconds) but it happens in increments. This is what I'm not sure about. Also, I though the TM said the same part numbers? And also I heard that the '84 K30 MC works, but maybe...
Howdy! Another day, another thing worth fixin' right? Alright so I had something strange happen to my truck today. I was at a red light, foot on the brake pedal, and it was holding pressure just fine, then suddenly fell like an inch (while maintaining same pressure on pedal) then held for a...
