So I got some time today to look at the truck again. I cant get it to leak now. Ive dried out the area under the intake and it’s no longer leaking. I see no fuel on the hose coming from the filter or the steel lines, they are all dry.
It runs fine but Im perplexed as to where the fuel was...
Do you happen to know what size fuel line I will need for that? I completely forgot about that line under there coming off the filter. I saw fuel under the truck looked at the top of then engine while it was running and got pissed lol I was not thinking clearly. Thanks for the advice.
I have fuel pooling under the air filter on top of the engine. My guess is it’s the injection pump. If there is another reason that fuel could be there please let me know. The truck runs fine and starts fine. If it is the IP who has experience with a good shop they recommend getting it rebuilt...
I have a rattle or clatter noise its higher pitched than the engine, it sounds in the video like a vibration. But its much louder at times sounds like a bolt clanging around in the engine. I inspected the flex plate thinking that was a common issue and to start there but I see no cracks. It...
Well Im not as dumb or old as I thought. It appears the alt is bad. I noticed when it was running with the new belt the lights went off, but as soon as I turned off the truck the lights came on again. I unplugged the red wire from the back of the driver side alt and the lights went off. I...
Well Im feel pretty stupid or at least old. I got some time this weekend to look at the truck, and to my surprise and delight its missing a belt. I didnt even notice it when I checked it before. I am so used to it being something more complicated like fusible link or rebuilding the alt. I...
Yea I think its the alt as well but I wanted others to chime in 2 brains are better than 1 and hundreds is great. The reason I think its the alt is that my volt meter is no longer reading in the green. Just on the line between green and yellow as if one alt is working and the other is not. Ive...
Got in the truck today and my wife said something was burning. I could smell it as well. I checked under the hood and could not see any wires melted or smoke when we got to the store. I turn off the truck and the gen1 light is glowing. We go straight home and no more smell but when I turn the...
I checked the starter plunger and it does move freely. So I rotated the flywheel while pushing the plunger in. It eventually seated into the flywheel and didnt come out. So I cranked it and it fired right up and the plunged then pulled back on the starter. So what is the causes of this? Do I...
When I removed the starter I left it wired up. If I start it it seems to work fine. The gear moves out on the bendix and spins very fast. Its one of the reasons im so confused. I thought it might not be getting enough juice so I cleaned all the ground terminals and even added the slave port and...
I just put in two new batteries. They are reading about 12.4v each. When I crank the gen. The starter tries to engage but it wont catch the fly wheel. It clicks like a low battery but every now and then it seems to catch and it spins the fly wheels just a small bit and make a loud clank noise. I...
Yes I get 12v on one pin and 24v on another pin but neither of those pins are #2 or #11. So I was not sure that its supposed to get power. I cant see how it would work without getting power to one of those pin locations. Im digging through the schematic trying to follow the lines and see if...
So the drive lights on the dash are not working. Everything else works fine in the dash cluster. All turn signals work, gen1 gen 2, high beam, 4x4 all lights turn on as they should except the drive lights that light up the speedometer and the fuel gauge and the voltmeter light. If I pull the...
I have not had a chance to look at it. But from what I read it sounds like it’s either the fan motor the resistor on the back of the fan housing or the switch that turns it on. I’ve looked online and all together it appears to be less than 75 bucks. I’ll probably replace them all.
