I was able to get all my bearings from a local place here, since the Timkin part numbers were still readable. The shop had everything I needed but the seals and the lock washer. Mine currently has the 8 slot nut as well, so I will not need to upgrade that.
BlueHummer sells a seal kit, but have...
The diff drained pretty clean oil, and little to no shavings.
So I'm guessing the hub? I'll have to buy a service kit before I tear it apart to see anything else.
Correct, the spindle. No no wiggle, just some clockwise/counter movement.
Got the hub drained, and there's quite a bit of shaving. No chunks, so far at least. But my oil is glittered up like a stripper
What I'm getting is a grind when the wheel spins forward on the right rear. I'm trying...
Truck started making some bad noise when slowing down. A low grumble/grind, coming from the rear.
Had someone drive while I rode in the back to listen better, and it appears to be coming mainly from the right rear.
I am thinking that I am losing a bearing in my hub, considering there is no...
I called them a while back while waiting on my paperwork clear, throwing around the idea of OD or a trans swap.
GearVendors said, very adamantly, they do not make a overdrive that will fit in a HMMWV application without drastic drive line modification.
Said they have some TH400 applications...
As mentioned above, Bikeman helped me get mine loaded at AAA since I'm out of state.
I'll try to find the paperwork to remember who shipped it for me.
Here's how it was loaded. Driver said he had no issues.
Mine has been working great. The brain portion of it is somewhat useless in this application, because there is no accessory hot wire to run to it so it can look for constant draw when the truck is off. It's really just a remote battery disconnect for me.
I use the Smittybilt GEAR seat covers from the OPs linked picture. I went with them because they fit the Smittybilt Standard Bucket seats that I put in perfect.
Haven't had them in long, so I can't speak to their durability, but they appear to be built well. My only complaint would be the...
Battery disconnect was one of the first things I did for security. Got a pretty cool one that is controlled by a key fob. Makes it super easy to turn it on/off.
My airlift hooks look like they've taken quite a bit of use and abuse. They're canted in a lot.
I really didn't want to spend the coin on "new" whole brackets.
I was thinking of a porta power between them and maybe a little heat to get them back to center.
Good Idea? Horrible Idea?
I installed a remote controlled cut off on the positive side. It's in the battery compartment, in the void under the seat. I just ran the battery cable to the cutoff, then used a 18" premade battery cable I bought at the parts store to finish up.
It's controlled by a key fob, or has a manual...
